New soul shard system is absolutely terrible.
No longer a buff and is turned into an accessory. However you still cannot fly with it, what's worst is it decays even when not in use! So many negatives warrant it not being very usable outside of invasions.

I also do not like it. I play on a pve server with the multi toggle on. So everyone can have one, but you STILL can't fly in bat form...
This is still a better system than 3 shards in the middle of the back of glitch castle guarded by a 4 clan super alliance that joined the server together and played the first two days in shifts.

The point is it's realistically vulnerable and must be risked to be used. That was not true of the previous system. Any change from this point should be an evolution of this idea rather than a return to the old system.

I also dislike this new system. Having the soul shards be the focus to lead a raid is a lot better. there is hardly any instinctive to attack a castle because by late game everyone will have anything. Having them on the characters permanently disables batmode on base settings, and the ability it provides hardly feels like a shard worthy item.

decay rate is too high, takes about 30 hours for it to despawn - which means you pretty much kinda have to be on every single day to charge. A bit much.

It's way better than the old system, since now this forces the owner to come out and recharge it if they want to continue to reap their benefits.
if youre just playing pve you dont get much use out of these things at all. as by the time you have access to em youre pretty much done with the game.

I play on solo server, not being able to fly with it via a setting switch feels pretty bad.

Imo they're more trouble than they're worth. Since they now come in amulet form, you have to weigh the benefits of using the Shards versus normal amulets. Problem is, depending on your needs, they're barely any better than normal amulets, if at all. Plus forcefully replace your Ult with something you may not want. +15% damage against vamps is nice, but is more of necessity than anything, considering the fact that you'll be broadcasting your location to the entire server.

Honestly, I think I prefer the way the old ones worked.

If it was designed for PVP then offer a similar system for PVE. If shared then there has to be compromised or a middle ground somewhere. In it's current iteration, it's all the steps backwards and none forward in it's design.

I got one.. found out I couldn't fly.. put it inside its container thing and never touched it again (we play on a PVE server)

This new system, regardless of how good or bad the shards are - is sooooo much better than the old shards.

It just needs more fine tuning.

Its basically what another guy said above me, it promotes more pvp and possibilities, as the old system was super stale and rigid. The best players on every server had all the shards and you had to raid them (impossible) and that could only be done during raids, which on some servers only happened every weekend.

This new system, it could change all the time and allows for more interactions outside of just being about the raids when castle pvp is active.

Its just so much better. Sure, the best players might have them all the time but atleast now, it wouldnt ONLY be aquirable with raids.

Would be nice if there was a PVE server setting, when the relics are set to Plentiful instead of unique, that they did not 'rot' when on the Soul Shard Stand (they still need to be repaired the same way from normal use tho)

That would a nice balance. So PVP or unique, it works like it does now but PVE and Plentiful, it only gets damaged over time when in use.
