Vampire hunter D, and Vampire the masquerade would be awesome as well.
Oooo Vampire the Masquerade "Dark Ages" setting would def make for a nice optional additional content DLC pack! Get us a cool Knights Templar themed cosmetic armor set would be awesome from that as a DLC! :D
What kind of gear would you all like to see added from these franchises? Obviously D's outfit from Vampire Hunter D. Dude! I want his huge hat so bad now in game. :D
Future updates or perhaps expansions will see us (if the devs want to expand the story without creating absolutely no beats) interacting with the Shadow Realm and destroying/banishing the thing Dracula got his super vampire powers and access to Night Creatures from. Probably gonna be the next big update or expansion.
After that, we still have to address whatever entity that bestowed Light/Holy magic onto Humanity and deal with it since it doesn't seem to be either an entirely Good or Evil presence as it allows Humanity to abuse the Light for its own gains. So it would make sense for us to eventually be able to choose between a set of factions.
The problem is the drastic changes this would bring to the game and how unbalanced the idea is with where the game is currently. Its not a bad idea. Its just not gonna work with where we are now.
Vampire Hunters would make players go from Villains with all mobs hostile, to Heroes that now hunt players primarily as their main enemies; unless your talking adding in new vampire NPCs with NPC generated random lairs... which I will come back too; regardless, hunters would see a vast reduction in hostile humanoid NPCs. As the game is humans vs vampires and I do not see the DEVs dropping that as its part of the existing games intent.
Also these NPCs will now need entirely new dialogue as well for these human hunters; so paying for new voice lines recorded.
Plus there is the leveling up issues this would add.
As they would also require entirely new "starter" land zones for the human hunters to start out in that would need constructed for hunters to start out then slowly expand into the currently build game world... effectively adding another quarter of a world in minimum game landmass in world size to allow hunters to zone slowly out into the world of the vampires.
Plus enemy generation problems.
"NPC vampires" would be needed added to the world for the hunters to have a balanced gameplay as vampires have. Otherwise you have a class thats exclusively a player trolling class doing nothing but antagonizing vampire players.
Plus the DEVs would need entirely new code for random lair generation for these NPC lairs. If you g othat route... but again you must or you unbalance the game.
Then there is the major problems of NPC vampire lair generation. As again I think NPC vampires and lairs would have to be mandatory.
But this adds its on complexity as it has to scan the existing world map with possible multiple player vampires an NPCs active and vampire lairs on player servers for free/unactive area and then generate in new NPC vampires in that area an a NPC vampire then journeys out randomly or waits inside.
Otherwise, this causes problems if it does not add NPC vampires and lairs. As this then adds in hunters that are there exclusively just to annoy and hunting "other players" and breaking into their lairs... which alone would annoy players further on top of having to deal with other player vampires doing the same.
So this would then make the game swing to now favoring this new non vampire player option over the games core class about playing as the vampires.
An then there is needing to consider how vampire players would have to deal with all these new NPC vampires and Hunters. It just adds even MORE enemies for vampire players to have to deal with on top of their enemy load already... so again, its still unbalancing the game and favoring the hunters over the vampire players.
Vampires; and lets be crystal clear here; were and still are the intended main characters of this game. So I think hunters are a bad idea overall. At least as of right now.
UNLESS your talking about a new vampire disguise form to look like a hunter to be able to go into a hunter camp base addition to the game. Effectively only adding in an edit to an existing world space to add in a zone in interior cell for the new hunters base.
Then that would work with minimal work and is probably the more realistic option given where the game is right now.
Oooo. didnt think about Kains Vampire empire armors of his sons... def want those. :D
"Drastic changes" and "unbalancing the game" without really explaining why that is.
You could start out in a very similar state as vampires, hell, in fact you could start out in the same crypts with you being a fledgling hunter.
No "major" changes need to be made to where you would start out. Farbane is full of bandits. Bandits that attack you on sight. The only "civilized" areas for humans would be Silverlight and Dunley, which if you wanted to progress, you'd have to kill the people there.
There are a lot of empty spots in all areas of the game that could be populated by vampires of varying strengths for hunters to kill if we needed more bosses or special minibosses for plots instead of the stuff we have now.
I don't care if "vampires are the main characters". That is irrelevant as hell in the grand scheme of things, as both humans and vampires are integral parts of the v rising story.
The MOST work involved would be creating a couple of new spellpools (nothing wrong with some spell types overlapping with vampires) like Fire and Holy/Light for humans to use.
Ya but thats kinda the ENTIRE point tho. As its a game about "playing vampires".
Its not called Vampire "Hunters" Rising.
I think we are getting this off topic. As the point of this specific topic is to add in ideas for further "[existing IP specific themed DLC that fans might want]".
Please feel free to start a separate topic campaigning for Hunters tho. I would enjoy reading it an adding my own ideas if it can be worked out how it can work well an keep the game balanced.
Again, all ideas are valid an might lead DEVs to be inspired for something to be added we can all enjoy down the line. Whole point of a discussion forum. I look forward to your separate discussion topic with a breakdown how to add them into the game.
Same. The game plays a lot like the original Blood Omen. Was what made me go back an repay Blood Omen 1. Game def has that "spiritual successor" vibe. But its honestly a great thing. As the original Blood Omen was an amazing game with solid gameplay. So any game that follows that game is on the road to success.
not to take away from OP,
but my OG EA review for this game is a quote from right after he awoke as a vampire.
and it has far more likes and replys then I could have ever Imagined XD
"I awoke to the pain of a new existence, in a dank womb of darkness and decay."
Kain - Legacy of Kain Blood Omen. :D
I wonder what kind of music D would have for his combat if he was added. Maybe the music from when he fought Meier Link on top of the carriage in Bloodlust?
