Why is PvP not popular?
I don't understand why people aren't playing Merciless PvP in V-Rising. It's like cutting out half the content in the game. Alternatively you play with PvP on but with such limited raiding and looting, what's the point in playing a survival game at that point?

Honestly raiding should just be "they can use siege weapons to open your door and loot your chests" not literally destroy the castle. Even then everyone plays it like rust and don't build a castle... They just build a honeycomb of 1x1 rooms with 4 doors and teleporters 50 layers deep...

I mean probably because the only point to pvp is to annoy peoples, slaughter lower levels and ect.

I can probably keep myself busy for over a hundred hours on Brutal in solo. Pvp seem like only a small fragment on what you call ''half the game''.

Also if i had to play online with how limited by time i am. I'd never get anything done because someone would destroy my castle everyday. So it's not like i'd do any progress if i need to rebuild everything everyday.

For the same reason that Battlerite is a dead game.
Go on an arena server (3 total).
Do you see yourself accumulating 1000 hours + doing this?

Imagine hauling all your stuffs back home after a long night work just to get robbed blind along the way by someone else...doesn't sound very fun you know.

It's fun for the bandit, to be fair.

Yeah and only for the bandit, PvP only work if both side want it.

Lol, yeah.
That kinda the message you are sending if you choose to play in PvP server in the first place.

I am thinking about trying an official pvp server after I finish up on my private one with a few people.

I have two reasons

One, at 34, I'm now an elderly gamer and I can't go as hard or aggressively as I used to. I'm actually finding it super comfy to play on PVE and just chill with different people making their homes and we can sometimes team up for bosses

Me from 10 or even 5 years ago would cringe at playing on a PVE server instead of PVP but like I said, I'm elderly now

The second is that I find PVP in most games these days not fun because of how metagamed it is. Within 5 minutes of starting on a new server, someone is already level 100 because they use a guide or found the optimal way to exploit the game. It's totally fine for the people who enjoy playing that way, but it's not fun for me to get caught in a fight with some nerd who stunlocks and instagibs me because he knows the optimal spells

metagaming has ruined stuff like this. If I could play on servers with "regular" people then I would do that for sure, but there's no way to curate that, as it's essentially a henhouse that's open to the wolves.

PVP level 84 vs level 20 isnt pvp. It's a douche bag killing the player pop of a server.

Then these same players will say: "why does no one want to play PVP anymore? this game is dead."
I've experienced exactly this in far too many games.. like Rust is practically known for this. Servers do great the first like day or two and people are pretty nice. Then out of nowhere it's just geared up people constantly murdering newer players. Then the server dies in population and they complain that nobody wants to play or nobody is a challenge.. yes cause you don't let anyone even TRY to become a challenge..

On V Rising though merciless is just a setting that allows full loot which is just stupid in my opinion. Normal PvP is fun and a majority of the time people don't really kill on sight in my experience. Most ask for help on a V Blood or looking for trades and such. The PvP just exists as like fun for duels and such for the most part.

A good portion of the problem is that players equate "winning" to "fun".

For games like Rust, a lot of it is that people want to murder the less defended to take all their loot. This way they don't have to do all the work. They basically get to let someone else do all the work then just come in and murder them while they're defenseless and take everything. Then complain that nobody can stand up to them.. obviously.. lol The easiest way to fix that would be to make raiding harder and expensive. That's what V Rising did. It's not easy to break down someone's castle and take all their stuff. Games like Rust I could go from nothing to destroying bases within a few hours if lucky..

On V Rising, cause there isn't full loot, PvP is more fun cause at least if you do lose the resources you gathered you still have your gear and can easily, and quickly, set out on the warpath to kill whoever wronged you. Merciless is boring cause if you die you lose all that hard work you did to even make your gear.. which can be quite expensive.

I'm sorry no one wants to help you stroke your no-lifer PVP e-peen.
Powerful Holy God May 15, 2024 @ 10:18pm
PVP is out dated, PVE can be competitive just look at mythic raiding in world of warcraft but with the benefit of not having to have degens attacking level 10s with their level 70s
