LT not working on controller?
Just bought the game, been loving it so far. I'm playing it docked on Steam Deck using an Xbox Series X controller (wired). For whatever reason, LT doesn't work in menus or for my weapon skill, but it works when holding Y to rotate the camera. I'm using the official controller layout, and I checked the ingame controller settings and LT is bound to weapon skill 1, but it just doesn't work for whatever reason. Anyone else have this issue?

I'll try this myself later when I can, hopefully it works. If I have the same issue as Hellfix I'll give an update

I also am on Steam Deck, docked to my TV. I tried this and it made no difference. I was using an 8bitduo. When I switched to Xbone controller it worked perfectly for one session. The game froze after about three hours and I had to hard reset the Deck. Ever since then the LT problem exists with both controllers, regardless of Steam Input settings.

This is most differently a glitch and a developer issue that they really should fix if they are going to list controller support on the their store page.

I literally have the exact same issue LT trigger not working using a mounted steam deck with xbox series x controller it's making it very hard to build my base as I can't press LT to recycle my old walls etc for expansion

Okay after extensive hours of testing this is absolutely a Proton compatibility issue. I can play on my PC with both of my controllers (8bitdo and Xbox One) with or without Steam Input enabled and they work just fine. Try to play on Steam Deck with a controller and you get this behavior of left trigger not responding for commands it's mapped to and the Y+trigger combo for camera rotation is extremely slow (adjusting the sensitivity slider has no effect). Depending on what combination of Steam Input on or off and Proton version you force compatibility with, sometimes the right trigger does not respond for camera rotation at all either.

As this is a proton related issue, I don't know who is responsible for fixing it, Valve or the game developer. Since they seem to want the game to be Steam Deck compatible, it seems like it's their problem. All I know is this issue is preventing me from playing the game the way I want to play it; on the TV, kicked back in my chair on easy mode so it's basically a castle building simulator. I even paid for the Castlevania dlc just to play through the game again (I've been on board since the start of EA).

I realize the Steam Deck audience is niche but I really hope someone from Stunlock is paying attention. Having said all that, I think they did a bang up job converting the game to controller. I actually prefer playing with controller and even am fine with the Y+triggers for camera rotation. Some additional options might be nice but what they've done is outstanding. I just need it to, you know, work on my Steam Deck as advertised.

All I know for sure is I'm glad I had a couple of sick days at home to troubleshoot this because if I had spent what precious little free time I have trying to figure this out I'd be mighty upset.

Iv literally tried ps5 controller ps4 controller xbox one controller xbox series x controllerand also the actual steam controller all with steam controller input enabled disabled hard reset between each try and I'm getting the same result on everything the LT works 1 soons I load in then only works on camera rotation there after.
I can get away with not using the secondary melee but not being able to delete the buildings walls etc is a complete bummer hopefully a fix will be out soon.
I'm surprised at the ps5 controller not working since it's due to be released on the ps5 hopefully fingers crossed someone notices and fixes this.

It will probably work just fine on a Playstation. As I said, this is a Proton compatibility issue specific to Steam Deck users.

Yeah LT still doesn't work for me either. This is a yikes :( we'll just have to wait for a fix I guess
I've tried remapping the LT-effect to another button, then that button still won't activate the LT-effect. But the actual L2 button will work with other effects mapped onto it.

I swapped the LT and RB effects.

Someone found a workaround in another thread that I'll post here:

The workaround that I found that seems to work consistently is to 'reorder controllers' in the steam input UI. Ensuring the Steam Deck controller is first.

1. Log into game
2. Press steam button
3. Navigate to 'controller settings'
4. Inside controller settings, navigate to 'reorder controllers'
5. Arrange controllers so that the STEAM DECK controller is FIRST.
6. Left trigger should now act as expected.

I have no idea why this bug exists. It doesn't happen with my Duel Sense Edge so its potentially something to do with how the devs have implemented the Xbox controllers API.

Anyway. Hopefully this helps you out!

This fixed my issue using the PS5 controller and I hope it helps.

Wow that's so odd, so it's not a proton issue then... thanks so much for posting, it was a big enough issue to where I just stopped playing the game so I'm looking forward to being able to play again!
