you place the transfer heart (it has a long cooldown so you cannot teleport your castle around nonstop) and then link the heart to the castle you wanna transfer. then the game will register ALL structures within the linked hearts range. then it lets you place all structures again. 1 by 1. it wont transfer the whole thing at once. that wouldnt work because of the different layout of each territory.
but we can prepare the original castle and remove the most tiles and can so carry the items in one go so its already good
Does it preserve all the contents of chests/crafting stations/ect.? Do prisoners in cells, and servants being converted get moved over as well?
First of all, recommend you have a good mutant blood on you (it stays on you for a long time), or vials of blood to just chug. Once you start the process you can't walk away far from the castle. This is trivial really, but if you are trying to make sure you reserve this spot without delays, just have your blood situation ready, so that you don't feel "time restricted". Worst case scenario you can abandon the whole process "pull the plug" and leave the old castle completely as is, but would be a huge waste of time if you already started laying stuff out lol.
I think clear out the area you feel you want to occupy before you decide to place the transfer thing at all, so that you have a lot more control where you want things to be from the get go, but there is a counterpoint to that, is that the transfer thing does reserve the area preventing someone else from placing a heart first, so up to you lol.
One thing I am not sure about are mist braziers, when you place them through that mode are they "active" or not, I definitely got annoyed with the sun coming up and down, but I didn't have a mist brazier in the old castle to transfer, would've been real helpful instead of having to rush walling things up. The walls do provide shade/closed space as usual though.
I think you can't build new "wasn't in your old castle things" in the transfer mode, even if you have the materials in your bag, not super sure about that though tbh.
I think it is nice to try to just do the "whole layout" on one go during the "mode", cause that transfer castle mode allows you to basically layout everything from your "whole big -structures built- inventory" without having to run back and forth from chests. This is more of a big deal if your original castle was quite elaborate and had a lot of already built structures.
However!! you can not access extra stuff from your storage even if you place the storage chests without completing the transfer mode, and I think you can only place based on prior built structures, not based on "raw materials it took to make structures" if that makes sense?, the "visual variants" of stuff I think is also restricted to the original? not super sure though.
There will be "forced to build before you can complete the mode" buildings, this again is important in regards to making sure your blood is good, cause rushing placing these "must place" buildings can be confusing, as the game doesn't really note which buildings exactly are those. I had 75 buildings I must place, and I had to do a lot of guessing, trying to clutch out before running out of blood lol.
What I think the buildings generally are:
-Your storage (even if it was empty I think).
-Your craft/refining buildings (everything in that tab including graves, and if you had multiple replicas they must be all placed I think).
-Your prisons/servant tombs (I think even if they had no one occupy them? not super sure though tbh).
-Your own tomb.
-Retalent building/Stygian Shard passives building.
There might be other things I can't recall, this is what I remember going like "what the hell did I not place?".
I don't think the teleporters were in the must build, however if you place them they do work!, which can help immensely with laying floors out.
You'll keep getting "your heart is dying it needs blood" message/audio, I am hoping this is just some "glitch" I chose to ignore it lol.
Once you press complete, it'll actually take a little bit of time to "animate", there will be a "being ported in" animation/audio, and you'll see units being zapped into their prisons, kinda hilarious, but it does take a minute. I dunno if you can "unplug" during that, was tempted to try but LOL.
Any structures that you don't end up using ends up becoming raw materials in your travel bags, which is a "must place" item that will show up in your buildings menu for you to place in your base it's like a storage chest, has its own unique visual.
Seeds that were planted in your castle (I don't think you can access those in transfer mode) will be in the travel bags, so don't worry about "losing" anything, I even think the "live" I didn't loot rats appeared next to their crafting building after the transfer lol, I suspect even grave units would appear, didn't have any though.
Now what's unique about that travel bag, is that the "max amount of specific item per slot" is much bigger - possibly infinite?. So if an item has 250 units max per slot, you have 4 stacks, the travel bag condenses all that to just 1 slot of 1000 units.
This is a thing because once you decide to take it out of that bag into your own inventory it'll occupy 4 inventory slots immediately - as normal, so have that in mind before you decide to take things out of that bag.
The bag completely automatically disappears when you take everything out of it.
Wow...text wall lol idc xD.
Solo or Online?
If Solo, just enable Teleport with items, build Teleport-Outposts and just build in one Location... Teleport of a Base gets so annoying later on :D try to move a Castle with 2 Floors, 10 Rooms, nearly all Crafting Areas outfittet, a Prision and a large Storage room... it takes around an hour.
Thats why I started to build smaller Teleport Bases, I fill them up with some Servant Quarters and Prisions and done.
It's a bit cheaty but we saw no other way.
