I need to rant about merciless ARMORS

now I don't mind if there's more option in your build with regards to armor. but if that will be gatelocked by the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ books, research, copper coin, to the point it's way faster to just jump to the next basic armor rather to just pray to rngesus, then there's a serious issue

yes I said it. it is way faster to just jump to the hollowfang set instead of praying to get the complete merciless copper armor of your choice.

as if the gloomrot version wasn't bad enough, now there's more gatelocking?

edit: its even worse when you think about the scourgestone pendant. sure its an easy +3 from the previous amulet, but when you think about the hollowfang armor, I dunno what to say other than its really bad.

You can craft paper/scrolls/schematics
You can farm them
You can farm tomes
You can farm coins
You can summon enemies with guaranteed tome drops plus a large amount of scrolls/schematics

There’s so many ways to get them that it trivializes the rng of research

I agree. I skipped the merciless copper set because i just couldnt complete it before i got to the hollowfang gear set.

And not only that, those upgraded gears are of multiple sets. Even if i do find a few books they may be of different gear sets. I am very sure i will get to the dawnthorn set before i even completed the upgraded hollow fangs set. I have 3 upgraded pieces atm but of different sets so the bonusses will never be used.
