Game on Steam Deck not recognizing left trigger
So I am playing on a steam deck and am having an issue where the left trigger is not being recognized. I have tried using an 8bitdo pro 2, and ek xbox elite series 2 controller and no luck on either one. Also i mapped the left trigger to one of the back buttons on the elite 2 and that also did not work. Anyone else having this issue or any idea what is wrong?

Yep have exact same issue. Can’t use left trigger properly. It’s not the controller because if you hold y you can rotate the camera counter clockwise. Alternate weapon attack and deconstruction is not working.

Same exact issue here. Do you also find that the camera rotates extremely slowly when using the triggers with Y?

Just for anyone who is struggling with this, remember the extensive remapping functionality of the steamdeck. You can make your trigger behave like a keyboard command which will work.

Tried that. Doesn't work. It interprets the command has being that you have switched to a keyboard which then interrupts the command as it switches.

The steamdeck itself is fine. This only affects external controls. It means I can't play this game with a controller when the steamdeck is docked.

So my wife was having this same problem on our Deck.

The workaround that I found that seems to work consistently is to 'reorder controllers' in the steam input UI. Ensuring the Steam Deck controller is first.

1. Log into game
2. Press steam button
3. Navigate to 'controller settings'
4. Inside controller settings, navigate to 'reorder controllers'
5. Arrange controllers so that the STEAM DECK controller is FIRST.
6. Left trigger should now act as expected.

I have no idea why this bug exists. It doesn't happen with my Duel Sense Edge so its potentially something to do with how the devs have implemented the Xbox controllers API.

Anyway. Hopefully this helps you out!

That totally worked, thank you L3WY!
