Do achievements work on private servers?

Hey, if I make a new private singleplayer server with custom settings and such, are the achievements disabled? Thanks.

I've been getting them just fine, playing offline single player with a few changes to settings (castle degrade time reduced)

Yes they work and there isn't any achievement related to players yet so you should be able to get all of them.
