How necessary is it to edit settings for resources and crafting etc for solo play?
Can you play on brutal solo with the default game options and have it be OK?

I've seen people in other threads recommend changing a lot of settings, but I don't want it to feel like using cheat codes or something.

If you don't mind constant failure you can keep them default, but that mode was built around having at least a 2 player party. The cooldown on dodge means you will still get hit by a lot of attacks because there isn't another player to draw aggro while you recover.

At least bump hp values up to 3.0, because playing solo means you won't have much of a chance to heal. I also doubled physical and magical damage, because otherwise it feels like your hitting them with a toothpick. It's been pretty balanced so far.

What's the point of playing brutal diff if you buff yourself x3 everywhere. Just play normal and 1.0 stat

Well you can, but keep in mind the game was made for parties of 3 or more in mind and the defaults keep that in mind. If you check the settings, there's presets for duo and solo crafted for those situations.

Why increase stack size and resources collected? So you bypass the need for 3~4 people hauling loot back and you don't need to go back and forth 3~4 times more than when not playing solo, just to carry an extra stack of wood.

Why increase health? Solo you won't have the opportunity to fall back and heal while someone else get's aggro, so that offset this.

Why disable the portal lock when carrying items? Because that exists only to incentive PvP for resources and solo, there's no PvP to be had.

I buffed a lots of things. I already played V-Rising previous version (and previous previous version), so I didn't want to farm again, so this time I buffed a lots. I also buffed health and damage, because I didn't want to struggle the last time.

Well, with all these settings buffed, the game is really nice to play. There is no annoying farming to do, and combat are not too hard but still a little.

x2 or x3 for resources, the rest at 1 (normal), you will ruin your experience if you buff yourself in other aspects other than resources specially at the start, the inicial bosses are already very easy.

Super necessary unless you want an endless grind.

I don't understand what the point of playing on brutal is if you have to then edit several options to play what is essentially standard difficulty, it even invalidates any potential bragging rights because at that point you aren't even really playing on brutal. If brutal doesn't suit you just play standard, that's how the game was intended to be played in the first place.

I dont get why I'm seeing this said everywhere currently. It's not designed for parties of 3 players or more. They're deliberately flexible. Almost everything scales to the number of players present. The only thing that doesn't is resource drops. That's why those settings exist.

It's purely a "what is more convenient for you" thing with loot and resource multipliers.

Lower will take longer to build/farm. Higher will make that aspect faster. If you dont want to spend ages looking for resources put them higher. If you dont mind it leave them default. Those particular sliders are only ever at 1x in the default private game settings. And since the default private game is solo. 1x is very much the default regardless of number of players.

EDIT: The clarify there is only 1 "pve ruleset" the "solo rulesets" are for pvp. And the solo pvp rules gives a grand total ooooof.... 1.5x loot. Yeah it's not about "being designed for 3 people or more" 1x is the standard period.
