Possible Cotton progression issue

So I reached Act 2 and one of the first things you want to do is get cotton to make cotton yarn or whatever it's called.
So I went to the cotton farms, and realized you need a potion for resistant. Ok, so I get that and go in. Now I hit the cotton but my attack is too low and I get measly 40 cotton from chests in the farm, which yields 2 upgraded materials and I need at least 12 to even think about crafting the new gear I need.

Am I doing something wrong or missing something? I tried the merciless copper sword aswell but no luck.

You don't need resistance, but it helps. Makes the stacks build up slower, can't stack as high, and falls off faster. Bonus tip: bear form gives you some resistance to everything, so use that to help it clear faster, too.

As for being unable to get cotton, I'm pretty sure merciless copper weapons can gather it. If I am wrong (it's been a while), beating Quincy just unlocked iron weapons, so you can find iron around Dunley and in the iron mines to get what you need.

I dont remember having that issue back in EA tbh, but yea right now copper doesnt work on it.
Will try to get iron weapons. I noticed I can get them, but the first area I went to that had it had enemies way above my level so I had to run^^

EDIT: I did not use merciless, I unlocked it with a vendor to try but then realized I dont have enough crude saphires lmao. Maybe it works with merciless, but regular copper does not.

cotton and iron ore resources require merciless copper weapons to gather, normal copper weapons cannot mine them. (it's a recipe that is an upgraded version of copper weapon which you can get by unlocking technology on the research table)

Yea I just tried to get iron and cant. The only merciless weapons I got befor I bought the sword were crossbow and bow which both dont work on cotton, unlucky.
Guess I will have to pray to rng to get crude saphires randomly so I can upgrade my sword.

Run around and look for rocks in Farbane with a bunch of colorful shards sticking out of the bottom. Those drop several gems when harvested.

I noticed the vendor also sells them for rather cheap so I could get the sword and cotton. Does anybody know if the sword works for iron too? Cuz the vendor doesn't sell the mace that I would usually use for rocks and otherwise it seems to be a random drop from bosses.

Yes, any merciless copper weapon will work on iron. Even a ranged weapon would, though you'd just keep shooting it until the node breaks and drops its resource on the ground.

Yeah but remember you'll need better ring and clothes too. In short more gear level

Gear level will help you stay safe while gathering, but is not a factor in ones ability to gather. Only the weapon matters.

Thanks, I could use the sword. Just unlucky crossbow doesnt work on cotton, that confused me^^ So in case anybody else runs into this issue you can get a merciless weapons that work on cotton and the crude stones needed to craft them from early game vendors. Just in case you run into the same issue as me and not get any drops of those.

Correct. It's referring to the weapon's level.

Test it yourself. Find some iron. Unequip everything but a merciless copper weapon (or better). Hit the iron. Get iron.

Until I went in to check, took off my weapon and tried to extract the copper with my bare hands.... It didn't work, which means I was wrong :D
