Try getting a few resources to upgrade your gear and attempt the wolf again. Often times when enemies are hard, they deal a lot of damage / take very little damage if you have low level gear.

With the risk of sounding kliché; it sounds like a skill issue honestly. I've downed everyone from first act, and i've got the basic equipment available without the fancy upgrades (merciless). So it is definitely possible. Some bosses might take a few tries, but they didn't make the game impossible to play or complete, that's a very counter productive thing to do with games.

If it's too tough it's a 99,99% chance that it isnt the game being "dumb" or impossible.

You can also look around for creatures with blood that's good for fighting - the higher the %, the better your combat stats will be from it.

It shouldn't be a problem killing it at the start. f you have trouble doing it, I strongly suggest you to play on an easier difficulty since It's by far the easiest one. No shame in that.

You might want to play on a lower difficulty if you can't beat it since it's easiest boss in the game.

Like what, its just EZ enemy and you can kill it by spamming your spell. Its just good way to unlock running.
