New to the game and a bit disappointed
Can't devs do any better in this genre than an impersonal progression quest giver and arbitrary recipe unlocks? Is there more to this game than the 25 other crafter builder server based games?

I guess I was tricked by the change in perspective and vampire theme into thinking this was different.

Yeah, I fell for that as well... You don't really play a vampire in this game, you play a set of equipment, attached to a spellbook.

If you were hoping to play a vampire that casually strolls around the countryside in simple villager clothes while being able to tear a bear apart, forget it, you can't, because without your armour set, you're weaker than a peasant.

You don't even suck blood, you just stand next to the thing while a red spell effect happens. It's like, why are we even vampires...

I don't know... In terms of gameplay this very much reminds me of a tablet game.

It's the same exact game that has been made 100+ times except with the camera pulled out a bit. All of these games are nearly identical.
What does cutting down trees have to do with being a vampire? Why do people find this enjoyable?

I'll never understand why these games are so popular.

The reason all games are an exact copy of every other game is because of "community feedback." Developers get a vision, start developing, release into early access basing the future of the game on feedback, and, voila, you have the exact same game made over and over again with a different theme and map. Hive minded development driven by people proclaiming that the only way to appeal to the masses is to make the game exactly like another game with no variation, or else it's bad game design. No room for niche genres anymore: everything has to be all inclusive, watered down, generic blahness. Welcome to gaming.

Game is good, blood mechanics its good, having slaves its nice, every aspect is nice.
Its not like ARC, Rust, Minecraft, Valheim, this is Survival with Diablo style and its pretty good, everything in this game is working nice and it fits together.

Rather tricked by yourself, eh? All the information is out there for a long, long time. So was totally your call. :steamhappy:

I'm sorry but the game's been in early access for a very, very long time. If you bought it without doing any research, it's on you and nobody else, the game was always advertised as a survival/basebuilding game with skill progression and boss fights, and that's exactly what it is, and excels at.

For people who like the genre V Rising is easily one of the best, the base building alone is leagues above almost every other title in this genre.

Oh yeah name 5 action-combat skill-shot based survival games. Oh wait you can't.

Hey look... everyone basically agrees with you and only wants to let you know it's your fault, or that it's different cause it's an asymmetric skill shot version of a typical survival craft game. whatayaknow
