Full release sent me from positive review to negative.
One of the shining features about this game was how you could change practically every setting to your liking. I sang the praises of the devs that put that mechanic in to everyone who asked about the game. A ton of those settings are gone now, and you're stuck with whatever the devs think is the right setting. Being able to play exactly how I wanted, and not having to deal with whatever someone else thinks is fun was a huge part of what I enjoyed about this game. Standing in the woods, holding left mouse while I VERY slowly clear out all the crap that is blocking me from building a starter fort is not enjoyable, for example.

I don't understand why settings were removed for the full release. I don't understand how you REMOVE FEATURES from a game on full release. If anything, we should have gotten more settings, and the ability to change settings after starting a world, rather than having fewer. I was looking forward to playing again after full release and now I'm just disappointed.

Greetings MrDugan,

Thanks for contacting us!

We appreciate your suggestion. The way we handle such propositions is by players voting on a feedback site. The more a certain feature request / suggestion gets upvoted, the higher the chance it gets implemented in the future!

honestly I think this dude has a completely reasonable issue and you gave him a complete non answer of "vote on the thing you liked that got removed from the game"

No dev company cares about the individual.

I seriously doubt players voted to remove features and settings.

So what your saying is any change good or bad will be made if if was voted for? Is that right? Where is the line?

What settings are you talking about exactly? I'm hosting a server everything seems to still be there for me
Shev May 8, 2024 @ 6:57pm
To the OP, could you give some examples of things that you could do, but now can't? I'm fine with someone having an honest grief about the game; but atleast offer what's different from before so the rest of us can have a foundation of understanding for where you're coming from.

I imagine it's the rate at which trees and rocks are destroyed, as in, how many strikes it takes to break rocks and cut down trees?

some removed settings include: the ability to adjust enemy/boss health/dmg as well as effectiveness of modifiers such as silver/garlic/sun as well as setting unlock progress at server start. or the ability of manually changing the level/difficulty of every boss independent of every other boss

I too am hosting a dedicated server at home and seem to have all or most of the settings I changed in the past. I was able to change teleport rules, stats, etc.
BlueKando May 8, 2024 @ 7:16pm
for example you could could get a damage multiplier for resource gathering (less hits to cut trees for example).

You could modify the sun damage done to your liking (like nothing for example).
Same for silver damage.

There is one more from the top of my head but its kinda spoilery so i will not write it down here.

And i personaly want a blood always 100% option, i am to old to search for ♥♥♥♥ like this.

That is a bummer. I was looking for an those options earlier when I set up a session. Instead of just over tuning your dmg the individual adjustments were nice for the "raid like" boss types. Soloing everything up until Adam, Adam was just sadly to difficult for me to solo at the time, adjusting his max hp was perfect without screwing up the dmg balance of the weapons for the rest of the game. No idea why they would remove that let alone the silver and sun settings.

I need to look again but there were multiple tabs, wondering if I missed some options.
Nope the units section was completely yoinked for some reason.

I want to preface this by saying that I like the changes overall. But there are some strange decisions that were made in regards to Advanced Settings. It wouldn't make me change a review from Positive to Negative, but it certainly makes me scratch my head in confusion and concern.

A lot of the changes just look like busy work given to new hires to justify writing their check instead of letting them go.

Several settings cap at 3 instead of 5 now. The setting itself isn't removed, but the cap was lowered. Why? Who would vote for such an arbitrary thing?
Blood Drain Rate is gone. No point in removing that as an option. I can't imagine anyone would have voted to outright remove it, either.
I can't even find any settings related to bosses at all.
Can't find any settings related to enemies in general.

I'm sure if I took the time to dig through my old serving setting files I could find more stuff that's been removed. I'm failing to understand the purpose or motivation of removing settings that were perfectly fine to have available. I truly cannot fathom anyone voting to remove and change options like what's been done. Like I said above, this feels like a case of "busy work for the new hires" instead of anything that was actually voted on.

It's still available for me when i made a private server.

Wow. You just labeled yourself the answer even though you didn't actually answer anything. This is not the answer. The devs putting back in the features they removed is the answer.

And on top of that, I went to your little site, and it's pointless. There's 3 whole posts now, including mine. There's virtually no traffic compared to player count. This isn't a solution, it's your way of sweeping things under the rug. You "answered" a question I didn't ask and directed me to the trash chute where I can scream into the void.

EDIT: Turns out that as the TC, I can remove the non-answer marked answer. Hilarious.

Blood drain (on vampire, not castle.) damage dealt to resources, enemy stats and several more. I have checked SIX times to make sure I'm not crazy. They do not exist, at least not in the single player settings. Other's have offered up examples as well.

The problem I have is that I tend to enjoy the framework that survival crafting games are built on, and despise the tedious meters you have to watch, and the sheer time it takes to grind resources. Grind is fine. The amount of time I stood hitting a tree with TWO axes is not. The entire reason I actually liked this game is because it let me play the way I want. If it's not going to do that, then it's just another tedious game that I have no interest in playing. I want to enjoy the parts I enjoy, without slogging through the BS that I don't.
