Controller Support Disappointing
I've been looking forward to controller support but it's not great. For starters, you can't even use the system menus. I can't change any of the graphics options at all with controller. You can highlight them, but you can't make changes.

Also, you cannot bind camera control to right stick. I know the game uses that for other things but let me choose please or offer a few controller presets.

Disappointed by it so far. Some parts are too fiddly on controller or don't use the logical button you'd expect.

Also, to be completely fair, I didn't expect this to arrive with only "partial" controller support.

1. Unable to enter a server password with controller - literally can't play the game because once you try to enter with a controller the keyboard input no longer works.

2. If you use controller it then locks out mouse and keyboard or if use keyboard to type in global chat then controller no longer works.

3. Not being able to change options in the system menu via controller.

These are all basic things that take 2 minutes to test, how do you even get it into this state.

Here's a fix for the controller issue people are having with the horse, and I added a manual rotate option for those of you (like me) who want it. Hope it helps!

I also can't mount a horse on controller. I have to switch to keyboard for that.

I don't understand why they did the controller support the way they did. Why do we need aim on right stick? Other games do everything with left stick and have right stick for camera. This WASD to controller conversion is just awkward and unintuitive making the game more difficult than it should be.

The twin stick is something I expected but it should'be been a hold button feature instead of always that.

Ewe.....I brought the game in EA in good faith (havent even installed it) thinking the PS5 release is a good sign they will take controller support seriously.

Now I dont know whether to install it onto my deck now or wait till controller support is better.

I guess.I can wait a week or so to see if anyone makes a good controller steam for the deck.

I was contacted on discord saying they are gonna fix the mounting next hot fix. But I'm gonna see if I can make a good steam config for the game

What an amazing contribution. Good job. I think I even heard your two brain cells colliding to come up with that one. You smart.

I'm not sure why grandpa GrimDawn is one of the only ARPGs (other than D4) that has actual good controller support and good camera movement (3d no less; It's a miracle; )--when the largely pointless "blow all the s/it up" game cycle of all arpgs begs for it. These indie darlings don't seem much better than Blizzard saying "it just can't be done" for D3 on pc. Love this game, and respect the Devs honesty, I guess, but the era of "let the console peasants use controllers" has long ended, and the pc master race didn't win if you look at the direction AAA games have moved in. Some hardcore thinking games still need kbm, but the truth is this game isn't one of them.

PSS. True question for game dev types: is it really that hard to make a gamepad scheme for pc games that otherwise seem to be cooking in some form of EA for years and years? I mean, the MTX shops always open on Day One, amiright?: (

Grim Dawn puts this game to shame as far as controller support with character/camera movement. V Rising seems to have adopted a frustratingly difficult control scheme focused on keyboard players. It's almost as if it was intentionally made difficult or the devs just play very weird configs. The way they have designed the game mechanics in V Rising I doubt they could adopt a normal targeting system that appeals to most people. Not something I would ever do if I wanted to secure a future with a game.
