Yeah, you're probably going to die a lot your first time through, but it's better to start learning with standard difficulty, it'll just make you a better player.
Items:
- Disable "Teleport Bound Items"
- Inventory Stacks Multiplier = 5
- Loot/Material Yield Multiplier = 2
- Blood Essence Multiplier = 2
*These will reduce the time it takes to grind and run around the map to return to the castle after collecting resources. It can get exhaustive after a while.
Castle:
- Castle Height Limit = 6
- Territory Tile Limit = 600 (at all levels)
*These will allow you to build stuff without worrying about space since the start so you can focus on progression.
Crafting & Building:
- Crafting Rate = 2
- Refinement Rate = 2
- Dismantle Resource Multiplier = 1
*These will contribute to progression as most advanced resources must be refined at least one time, as well as not punish you if you have to dismantle something.
Additionally, I would suggest tuning Health and Power/Spell Multipliers up a little in 'Vampire' category because some bosses can be a pain to kill solo, unless you like the challenge. I usually do not change this, but if you get frustrated easily you might want to make things a little bit easier for you (no shame in that).
Set "Teleport Bound Items" to disabled. It is actually "Only teleport bound items", so I kinda hope they reworded that bit.
Regarding the last part, indeed there is no shame in giving ourselves a auto-buff since the game is heavily balanced to play in a group, so no shame indeed since as solo in making more easy is pretty much a player balancing the game for a solo mode and not much like "i want it do be EZ" nope, just fair balance for solo and nothing else (:
Find the alpha wolf for the wolf form and go build a base in a decent spot while you still have the protection.
That feature was specifically introduced to cleanup castles from players that no longer were playing on servers. It has zero real functionality in single player except serve as a blood essence sink in my honest opinion. Unless you like the challenge of having to constantly supply your castle(s) with blood essence
the biggest waygate (heh) in this game is the merciless upgrades.
Make sure you can take out the heavily armored enemies as well being able to take care of mobs with a certain ease.
Balance of firepower and amount of ordinance down range is what will give you success in solo.
All weapons having slow fire rate will give you disadvantages against mobs, and all weapons being fast firerate won't always mean you'll be able to take down big enemies such as Hulks and Bile Titans.
380mm barrage is close to mandatory.
+
Eagle Bombs and/or 500kg
Don't be afraid to take the EAT as an Anti Armored weapon. Look at its cool down. It is one shot and discard but it comes two in stack plus the cool down is short.
Avoid low armored targets based Strategem like Eagle Strafing run and ...maybe the orbital Gatling Barrage. As they are not always effective against wide mobs in high difficulties.
Beware of planet surface temperature for energy weapons, meaning it will drain your ability to keep fire down range in a consistent basis.
JAR-5 Dominator is AMAZING against bots if your aim is good. Be careful of using against bugs because of hunters, but it can easily take care of Spewers.
Auto Cannon is amazing at taking care of Shriekers nests, bug holes and armored mobs like Brood Commanders + Hive guards, as well of surprise Stalkers.
Shotguns (non slugs) are amazing at taking care of mobs. The Breaker Incendiary is outstanding at taking care of Shriekers.
Use Light Armor for bugs and Medium to Heavy Armor for bots.
In Blitz missions, be sure to have enough nades or a support weapon that can take care of fabricators/bugs holes effectively in 1 go.
I love this game solo but you got to be careful about your gear much more than as a 2 stack or more.
The Stamina Booster is great.
