Wanderer problems
Anyone got advice dealing with this old ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥? I wouldn't have an issue with him if it wasn't for the fact he likes to hang out in THE most dangerous areas at all damn times.

My most recent attempt I found him in the stalker lair, killed them, then tried to fight him and lo and behold here's my favorite ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ guest, Styx. Every single time I try to kill the wanderer, Styx shows up and he chases for ages.

So I'm stumped. I don't know how to deal with this and am looking for advice of any kind.

Current gear is rare (the funky blue glowing) pistols, slashers, and axe, full hollowfang armor, hunter's cloak, dawnrunner pendant.

can make him run back and forth by going in front of him in the direction he's going. Spear E is also neat.

Yeah, that's the main advice I've been seeing when trying to google around. I don't have a rare spear yet but once I do I'll give it a try. Getting in front of him isn't much of a problem, it's dealing with the constant enemy spawns all around me at all times (especially the stalkers), as well as Styx, that ends up being my main issue.

Appreciate the tip though

When did it I reserved my e for slashers stealth to keep ahead of enemies while chasing, greatsword q does help with gaining distance as well, I probably only used slashers q to get hits can't remember.

I think I used bloodrage/aegis shield, blood rage might've had a bonus speed gem/ensnare?. The idea is both spells help tank hits while running, and they are "guaranteed value" instead of something that can miss or hits the wrong thing. Chaos double blink. I think I tried range casting him first and decided just maul him melee, cause what happened often I lost track of him so prioritised on top of him.

If you can locate a cave in the forest (are these random location spawns I am not sure?), I found and reset the "fog" going through it then back in a couple of times the first time I got in that zone as the no minimap was trippy, just so that I have more of a lead minimap/orientation wise, and perhaps just clearing some enemies and have an idea what the area is like.

I don't remember if marking the cave with a pointer on the map is maintained after the minimap disappears (I feel like it might have, cause I went back to that cave a couple times..maybe I just memorised it though).

A lot of decent beast bloods there, I'd use that for the bonus movement speed, if you can squeeze in wolf forms for the chase that might help. I think also night time is actually a lot scarier cause of these shadowstepping werewolf things...I think they don't spawn daytime? not sure, they hit hard.

I will say I remember he was like in the middle of the forest...while Styx was kinda eastish maybe? I did not have the problem of coming across Styx or any other bosses at all personally.

This is the only V Blood I hold pure disdain for. On its own, I don't mind him running or rooting me. It's everything else that likes to "involve" itself in the fight. If you're unlucky, which feels like bad luck is hard coded to be part of the fight, you end up with several of the demons, misquitos, toads, and possibly Styx joining in. That's what makes the fight not fun. I don't mind a boss fight with adds, the lich early on is a great example and you can easily get overwhelmed if you're sloppy.

I don't know how to fix this fight to not be rage-inducing. I just know that in its current state it's easily the worst fight in the game. Even soloing Adam doesn't leave me as a threat to global salt stocks.

Yea I might play around with some of my spells next time I go at him, cuz I'm sure there's a combo that'll help. As far as I'm aware, the game map is always set spawn for everything, so it'll always be the same, locations wise. I usually set a marker down on the waygate cuz it's a pain to wander and not be able to find it, but my issue was the shadowstepping werewolf things too, yeah.

A bear, wolves, spiders, w/e? I can kind of just ignore that stuff, but the 'stalkers' are just so much faster than me and an enormous pain. Then of course, my Styx issue as mentioned.

Who knows, maybe I'll get better luck next time, friend wants to wait for the 1.0 update before we play again so it'll be a new save, and maybe the Wanderer won't hang out on Styx's doorstep lmao. I hadn't considered trying during daytime though, if I still find myself unlucky, I'll use a sun resistance potion and see if it helps to try in the day. Great tips, appreciated!

Yea, all the stragglers seeing a fight and joining in (especially everything at night) is just a massive pain in the butt. The lich early on nearly killed me because I was just hard focusing him and he spammed like 20 skeletons or something crazy, I got him in the end but it came close. An add-spammer I didn't like was the spider, however. Projectile spam + enemy spam (that also projectile spams) is mega unfun. Ah well, I killed her once, I can do it again.

Appreciate the advice and just general insight.

I use blood ritual to repell any adds that follow me, i use chaos dash to catch up better and i use mace Q for another gap closer and chaos bolts, works fine for me.
