Last update broke the game. Cannot get to main menu [steamworks initialisation failed]
After the last update, the game is broken as I cannot get to the main menu. I only get [steamworks initialisation failed] and forced to exit.

I'm not talking about public servers. And if you had been less snarky and actually read those said announcments:

"IMPORTANT NOTE! Player-run servers will not be affected by this downtime."

did you do check files? might be that

I'm getting this too, even after verifying files. Very strange that it doesn't prompt me for offline mode and instead just refuses to let me play.

"Steam is not launched"
when I start the game with Steam

Yep, same here. Any solution for this? Checking game files, clearing download cache, rebooting steam and desktop didn't work.

If you folks are on Linux, it might be defaulting to an old version of Proton. I switched to Proton Experimental and reverified files (plus a small patch came out), and it's working now.

Same here. Not on Linux, on Win10 23H2. Can't run the game since v1.0.

I'm not having a problem but I am playing on a dedicated server. Make sure your client server has the correct version running? I'm guessing it has to do with the client side server and how it's running since public and dedicated servers seem to have no problems.

Another solution approach for Ubuntu users:
updating the nvidia drivers and kernel version manually worked for me on Ubuntu 22.04 - set proton to 9.0-1 afterwards.
