You're fighting a Boss for the umphteenth time, things are finally going in your favor and .... SURPRISE ... some random trash mob shows up, but not any random trash mob, a trash mob that Charms you. Disabling you just long enough for the Boss to remove your last remaining HP, (which was higher than the Boss' before the trash mob showed up.)
Stunlock, Turn the Shenanigans OFF.
However, you forgot the part where you explain how this is anything but a skill issue.
So with that in mind, this game is similar, clear the entire area to not have anything unexpected, bring consumables just in case, then try to kill the boss without running away from the area you cleared.
Quite simple, if you rage often, do not yolo.
like my guy is lousy with bad luck.
I clear area, kill everything for miles, fight boss... and 2 patrols roll in, who are also bosses, and proceed to kill me.
I farm about 3 level 2 rifts once it starts by myself without any help or potions with any blood type and still at times game is like hey, you know how it's all moba like and your dodge got 8 sec cd and your shield got 11 sec cd? How about.... you fight a boss that has adds, that summons adds, that have patrols spawn and walk over to you fighting and the boss also does such array of moves that you likely going to need assign your dodge and shield to counter certain move oh and by the way there 4 mobs spamming few second long ccs on you, have fun!
Mean while I can mostly beat primal souls fast enough to avoid most of it I still can't deny what a ♥♥♥♥ game design that is. It's like devs forgot their own 'moba' idea when they designed these encounters and yeah yeah there are some freakozoids that can beat everything solo on brutal no dmg taken no abilities used fists only but that is not average and if it was then so would be anything else on that level, alas not everyone is magnus carlsen when it comes to chess.
-Focus fire the CC mobs.
-Save your dodge until you really need it as a lot of things can just be avoided by walking.
-Use weapon cool-downs efficiently, especially the ones that offer mobility/invincibility.
-Use terrain.
-Weapon swap is really powerful. I don't like PvP, but some of the PvP techniques will really help your gameplay. I really only have a two weapon swap atm, but that helps a huge amount!
-Sometimes you have to change your build/load out for specific bosses. Or at least I had to. Usually I had to pick up frost barrier and/or chaos barrier for certain fights. (Had to use both for Solarus)
All that being said I had real trouble with Valencia (that coffin!) and Octavius. Still have trouble w/ Octavius as a primal blood mob. His spray of circular swords is really hard to get a handle on consistently. And his new jump sword strike thing (I assume that will be standard for him on brutal) is tough to avoid.
But again, none of it unfair IMO. Hope that helps.
Oh, and I'm fairly sure every single one of those was made by a human being.
Is this boss so mysterious you dare not even name it?
You know what I mean and I don't think I need to explain why some things are a bit ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ even if there are no hit videos. I saw someone complain about bear boss and I find it personally very well balanced and easy but some people wont.
As for the boss that has bunch of bs going on? Octavious for example. Can I beat him? Yes and I have and not just once, cause he spawns during rifts a lot. However his initial fight is pretty ass. Can you learn his move set and literally just walk sideways before his triple charge hit combo? Yeah, but he is one of those bosses where you got to dedicate certain abilities to deal with his bs. Not only he chains his attacks back to back but he also summons help, and he got patrols walking in like it's their business or something, then he also starts to spin and cover most of the arena with projectiles oh and lets not forget that the fight takes place in open air so if you die then you got to wait cause sun is up.
I can name a few more but I think you get my point. Just cause I or you can beat these bosses does not mean they are super well designed, and I recall that my initial clash with him was really frustrating rather than enjoyable.
And complaining about ~Level 57 patrols.
This is 100% a skill issue. The skill to understand a L57 Succubus is a priority target who is also very easy to kill, for instance.
Octavian is a fantastically designed fight. On Brutal, he's one of the first fights that pressures you to anticipate and deal with a particular scary attack. A blind playthrough on Brutal is almost certainly going to die to him the first time, and then go back to the drawing board and say, "how do I deal with this attack?" — and think of one of a few very effective ways to deal with it. And then beat him. And know they beat him because of their knowledge and execution. Which feels good.
People who complain that a boss is hard in this game should lower the difficulty. Simple as. As it is, with the way the bosses are designed, the only bad boss is Vincent. And only because he's annoying.
V Rising is HARD! I love it but it does have a habit of ganging up on you when you are desperately trying to achieve a simple goal. It can be a bit/lot overwhelming which is what this dev group seems to want. I'm losing interest after about 60 hours and I won't come back for a 2nd attempt because it's needlessly hard in places as stated by a large percentage of the gaming community. We have to accept it because they want their game to shine for the pros. Just let it go and uninstall it if it's making you that angry. I will be doing the same shortly.
Here's me, demonstrating my lack of knowledge, note the character name at the start of the video:
