Enemies have harsh level walling. Levels come from gear. Gear comes from resources.

Overall it doesn't take too many resources to outfit your castle and self. The real grind is outfitting your minions, who have the same gear requirements you do. Minions can generate resources, but generally can't get stuff from the same level zones without having equal gear for themselves. So they're mostly behind the curve, going out on hunts for lower level resources while the MC collects high level materials for them.

You pretty much need everything for everything, there's no vendor trash in V rising. That being said there are a few nice grabs:
- Buying fish with coins, for prisoners and fish oil
- Buying glass bottles with coins, 5 packs for cheap.
- Buying the unique weapons with copper coins, which can be shredded for silver coins.
- Upgrading weapons and amulets asap, buy the recipes if needed.
- Cultivating crops early and often
- Sending minions out on missions

So, you grinding for optional minions so they can grind more, its kinda useless to me when you can do same thing in 5 minutes and you dont have to wait 1 day.

You're mainly grinding materials to get a new set of armor and weapons to beat the next level of bosses so you can grind more materials to get the next set of armor and weapons to fight the next level of bosses.
That the bare bones of the game. You're grinding for researches for decorations / weapon upgrades / armor upgrades / and such.

Every one of these things are dropping in lategame, you can get fishes by fishing or killing fishermans and destroying their barrels, you dont have to sending minions on missions bcs this trash is everywhere and you will not use it.

Only thing what you can grind are scrolls, paper and schematics, other things are dropping, you will get enough of everything by normal playing.

If you need materials, its not grinding its basic survival game, you dont have to be hours in mines, you will go there like 3 times max, cuz new things are cheap to craft.

Yes, only thing what you will grind is paper, scrolls and schematics because these things are kinda rng, everything else is dropping every where and you will not use it all.

Minions are good for offline farming. You can pretty much entirely ignore them once you finish the progression quests

Players call anything that requires an investment of time "grinding". The act of gathering up ♥♥♥♥ to craft is just "grind" to players.

Its not like MMO grinding where you repeat a dungeon over and over again to level up so you can grind the next dungeon. But it is still a grind

No, thats basic collect materials for something, grind is something like Stygian Shards and its optional because you need 100k+ of them, thats grind.

You can reasonably accomplish every solo PvE objective by running through every major zone once or twice. Completing the research will take much more effort, but it will give roughly enough money to purchase one gear set of your choosing from merchants.

The resource demand climbs in multiplayer, where sieges and defenders are easily the most expensive assets.

I don't personally understand this since it really is just basic gameplay. It'd be like saying shooting someone on an FPS like Overwatch is a grind because you do it over and over. It's not a *grind* it's just the gameplay of the game.

As you've said, typically you just play the game and progression just happens really. There's no heavy grind on here even if you want to gear up servants. I geared up my servants to I think like 73 currently with only a few visits to places for resources.

It takes like one trip to the iron mine and you're set on iron for quite a while. Especially if you're using a good worker blood for increased yield. I can make one trip to practically anywhere for like 20 minutes and have more than enough to last me a while. I think the only thing I really have trouble with keeping a steady supply of is scourgestones.

Scourge stones
Stygeon shards
May have spelled those wrong, also I’m fine with it, doesn’t feel overly grindy with default normal settings

Paper is an easy grind IMO, Scrolls are... oof. I do a little crafting/plant pressing, mostly plunder a village or two every two days. It's a much longer grind than paper/T1.

Paper I find to be a little annoying. It's easy to make just slow. Scrolls are *very* easy since they drop from practically everything. I had like hundreds of scrolls to turn into schematics and nearly instantly maxed out the athenaeum. Scrolls are annoying to craft though. I find that paper is usually the one I have to actually focus on. The rest just sort of happen from playing and doing other things.

I seem to be "grinding" some iron, some soul crystal (or whatever it was called), some grease, some pristine hide. But that is partially to outfit the servants, as I believe I mostly got what I needed for personal use just by running around and looting everything while I'm out and taking on bosses or finding new blood bags.
BIG E. May 16, 2024 @ 3:30pm
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scrolls.

Most other things are quite tame in terms of farming but scroll farming to unlock everything in iron tier is just plain torture.

I would say in comparison Valheim is way more grindy than this game with default settings tho.
