A few items like the copper ore, coarse fabric and a few other things but I can't remember what. If you're playing on a private server, there's an option to let you teleport with all items. I'm pretty sure they added that in to make hunting for materials in PvP server more risky.

I really think its obnoxious how much stuff you cant teleport with.
But thanks for the hint on the private server option.

It'd be easier if you just mouse-over the items. There'll be "cannot use teleport" or something like that in the description.

Hopefully they'll implement a visual representation of items that doesn't allow teleport. It'd make our lives a lot better.

It's everything but equipment and consumables. Simple.

Yep, this option is a must-have and I never play without it. I know it is to force people to travel back on foot to facilitate pvp and losing potentially a lot of loot. But I much prefer to be able to just teleport or at least bat-up.

... except you can also teleport basic materials (rugged hide, bones, etc.), but generally not their refined products (leather, grave dust, etc.), but sometimes there's an exception to that (stone & bricks, wood & planks ... but *not* reinforced planks).

... and, aside from consumable blood products (hearts, etc), you can also transport essence.

... and research materials can be (paper, scrolls, etc.), while the books themselves cannot.

... and most flower-related products can (blood rose, pollen, etc.), but the moment you process them into a crafting material (coarse thread), you can't.

... and, while copper ore and ingots aren't allowed, copper coins are perfectly fine.

The only simple thing about all this is that you can easily find out what can and cannot be teleported by simply reading the description of the item, where it will clearly say (or not say) 'cannot be teleported'.

Edit; @OP, at a glance, the offending items are the copper ore (2x), copper ingots, coarse thread (2x), research books (2x), and gem products (emerald, amethyst, dust). Everything else should be fine.

The game is primarily designed around PvP so the idea behind the teleport restrictions is that those are important items and you have to manually transport them all the way back to your base; this means you're more likely to interact with other players and so it makes PvP more likely.

It creates interesting moments where you have loot and have to decide what is important: sometimes it's better to drop those teleport restricted items because you absolutely have to get back to base, other times you really need the restricted items so you have to risk a journey on the dangerous roads.

Regardless of whether you play alone, online, PvP or PvE the server settings are very customizable so you can setup up teleport restrictions, however you like or join a server with the setup you like.

The game is not designed around PvP - Blocking waygating everywhere at all times is just as much about making horses and wolf form relevant, as making enemy patrols a genuine danger.

If you can teleport from basically anywhere to anywhere the game becomes pretty dull, and you end up never using your horse for any real amount of time.

I played Valheim without allowing teleportation on materials ages back. Thus you are forced to set up a forward base and invest as much time as possible in it before travelling back via ship to your home base, to minimise time wasted on travelling.
I remember loading up a cart with so much ore once that it was actually unmovable ><

It quickly became tedious as ♥♥♥♥.
The reality is that blocking teleportation and the like with certain materials only serves two purposes: to artificially extend play time, and in a PvP scenario, to make you spend longer exposed.

Once you get out of the location you were gathering in and reach a Waygate, that's it, threat over. Patrols are meaningless obstacles when you're just running past them. The first 10% is the obstacle, the remaining 90% is just time wasted.
The only exception might be the Silver mine, since that will actively damage you, but even then it doesn't matter cos you can just chuck it on the ground in a safe spot and come back for it.

Basically, I would never play this game again in PvE without teleportation restrictions turned off. They add absolutely nothing.

You can hover over items and it tells you if you can teleport with it or not

Don;t play on servers with that feature enabled and/or if you are on your own server disable it. Problem solved.
