Base move speed is unbearable
Does anyone else feel like you're swimming through molasses in winter in Vermont?

Because of this, creature, rogue, and maybe brute blood are the only viable choices, which is sad because I would prefer to play scholar.

some gear adds move speed as a bonus, some set bonuses add move speed.

that's why I am always using the set with movement speed regardless of what else it does.

When i dont use my 100% rogue blood either...Jesus I notice immediately because Im suddenly moving like a slug.

in games with limited options to dodge.. movement speed is always good. once you got a taste of it.. you can never go back ^^

Basically it's done that way as a combat balancing thing. You're expected to use the wolf to move faster between zones when not in combat.

use gear with speed bonus
get passive speed bonus from shards
change to wolf form
use a horse
build teleports close to where you regularly go
use skills that temporarily increase your speed and weapons that dash forward or leap

There are quite some options to ease travelling

I feel your pain. My solutions so far are following:

- dash around all the time
- wolf around half the time
- horse around regularly
- only play with unrestricted fast travel
- place paired teleporters around your castle (you will unlock those later)

...you can steal a horse at any level from dunley

Armor, necklaces and weapons can all boost your movespeed as well as spells. And of course rogue and creature blood. And Draculin during the night. So there are lots of ways to augment speed.

Going back and forth using wolf and horse is ideal. I always use wrangler blood, or if its only about getting from A to B on a horse, worker blood as well.

You fight bosses on your horse?

Yeah it is a tad slow.

Heres a question does the low base movespeed harm viable variety for combat? If everyone wants to use bloods, armor sets, weapon passives, etc that all boost move speed and often need to be doubled up to feel good. How often do people pass up move speed boosts for anything else?
Edward Von Worms May 22, 2024 @ 3:29am
agree, the move speed should be slightly faster and the dodge cooldown reduced by a second i'm constantly taking damage from things because i'm constantly on a cool down the great sword skills mitigate it somewhat but it feels far too punishing especially considering i'm playing on the easy mode.

I think it's perfectly bearable. And I don't feel like I need some specific blood with movement speed either. It's nice to have more movement speed, but I can't see how it's required. It's fairly important to learn what moves enemies make that you can just move normally to avoid, what moves you need to block, and what moves you need to veil/dodge.

For anyone that didnt know.. carpet increases your movespeed in your base. Also you have three teleporters.

I know that it is for the sake of balance and all, but it does feel weird how slow your character is, considering they're supposed to be a supernaturally strong and agile vampire. As it is, it feels like a child with asthma could outrun you, lol.
