Last play-through with my other friends we found 4 natural 100% in 60 hours: 2 warriors a rogue and worker. The others we had to use the gruel on which I HATE that mechanic. They say it is 66% to work but it has failed for me 4/4 times. I wish the mats were 10x more expensive but the chance was 100% for it to work.
