How to deal with Auto-Attack Bosses
I just lost my third solo character to Crassius. This fight followed the same pattern as my last two deaths: Bosses that just do regular attacks suuuuuck

I can dodge mechanics, but how do I do better against them when they just swing away? You're so slow while attacking or after being attacked that you just cannot get out of the way, and some bosses don't have an "out of the way" to get to. I just don't understand how people are supposed to adapt to this in time to beat the boss.

Combat tips are very much appreciated. I do not have the time in life to just keep throwing characters away after 8-12 hours of play.

Frost and/or Skeleton shields are a must against bosses that stay close to you and swing away.
Their effects/damage get absurd if the boss is the spammy type.

watch youtube as it sounds like your combat performance is way below average.

What do you mean by saying that you lost your 3rd solo character?
Are you doing some sort of challenge run with no death?

If you are on normal difficulty, try ranged weapon like longbow or crossbow and then switch to melee weapon when the weapon is floating to dmg it. It was actually funny seeing that I can throw the weapon at him to stun him.
If you are on brutal difficulty then my bad. I haven't played brutal mode.

Kind of? I try to keep playing. I went back and beat Crassius, but it feels so hollow. What's the point in winning if I already knew the fight? And even then, nothing will erase that loss. Starting over is the only thing I can think of to kind of make up for that.

Genuinely hoping there were things that I was missing and not just having to totally change my build.

If you restart when you lose, the sting of much harder bosses than Crassius later on will obliterate you. I didn't have any issues with Crassius in melee on normal.

Honestly trying to do all bosses first try is already a somewhat insane take, but who am i to judge.

That said if you are playing on brutal you can forget about not switching your build. I sofar have a few preset builds that i often use.

Like a summoner build, a full defensive build, evasive build, i-frame build etc. I mean dont be too harsh on yourself would be my tip.

Even if you look at dark souls no hit runs these boys and gals played every boss so much they might aswell sign them up as life partners at this point.

If you really want to do a no death run do yourself a favor and learn all the bosses first and remember how you beat them so you can switch your builds to presets once you get to them.

Yeah, I've been grappling with that all day. I've a week playing and have nothing to show for it.

Honestly, I don't consider those guys impressive for that very reason. Because it is very much just a process, player knowledge is INSANELY OP. People talk about bosses being "soooo easy" when that's entirely a subjective metric that means they just threw themselves at it a number of times that they consider to be easy. Were it really easy, they would have gotten it on their first try when they didn't know anything about the fight.

The whole point is that losing, for me, nullifies any victories later. I do not understand people who grind out a boss on the fourth run and see it as an accomplishment. That means that I'm so bad I had to try 4 times to get it down. I didn't work to earn a goal, I struggled with what was the intended outcome.

That take is utterly insane. I don't even know where to start with it.

Agreed, with that attitude he might as well just give up now.

Well, that isn't happening either. I will probably stop restarting and just accept that I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful at the game. I can't afford to waste so much time.

Tbh, the game is designed as a rogue-lite experince. Dying and learning from the way you died is major part of the game. Hoping you will beat every boss on 1st try is going completely against the game design here. It will either drive you insane, or will just make you stop playing somewhere around Act 3 bosses. Not even mentioning final boss and a few others in the last tier.
