How brutal is brutal?
Now that 1.0 is out I want to go for the achievements. Would it be smart to go for brutal right away to get all the achievements in 1 playthrough or am I going to be frustrated all the time because I can't advance?

Is this your 1st playthrough or not?

If it is I do not recommend it.

EDIT: I've checked your profile, if you've 100%'d those games why even bother asking? Go for it. It won't be easy but you'll manage. If you ever get stuck watch builds and techniques on Youtube.

And get healing potions, buy blood rose seeds, you'll need them. It won't be as pretty as fights on Youtube, but with them every fight can be a lot more manageable.

I played a lot, a long time ago, but I never got far cause I was just fooling around with friends. This time I'm going solo and all the way to the end. Thanks for the advice.
My friend and I managed to beat every boss on Brutal up til Dracula.

Dracula is a different world of pain though. We might bump difficulty back up to Brutal to beat him now that we've unlocked everything but it was just too ridiculous on Brutal for us to have a chance. People can do it, sure, but Brutal Dracula feels so much tougher than any other boss in the game. Adam was a joke in comparison.

Brutal before the nerf was fine I suppose, meaning every boss up till the last three was just ok, and every other fight was engaging but not super hard until Dracula - in particular Dracula's 4th stage which was nightmarish but fun!

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐋𝐒 𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐕 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝𝐬 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐝𝐮𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬.

Brutal post-nerf - every boss is paper cut-out that you can just knock over Adam included, it's just Dracula that is still slightly challenging but noticeably much easier than my initial Brutal runs.

It really depends on what kind of player you are...if you are the kind of player that is like...well other people did it...so this is doable..there must be a way, and you enjoy the process, I think you'll be fine (I also played EA but not too deep, and just decided to brutal just for funs).

But if you're the type of player that's going to be like this and that is "broken" and all these people who managed are just elitist sweaty jerks...then...why are you playing brutal to start with...it is made for those kinda players for the most part like??? the word brutal implies you want the game to break you imo LOL.

I personally played on a public server though just incase something was just too much for me I could ride the coat tails of others doing this or that boss. only ended doing that with Henry just cause I dunno...the rest I soloed...there was suffering but...once you kill all bosses in the game unless you pvp there is nothing to do so might as well waste the hours.

I've never touched PvP and never intend to but I digress to each their own here. Installing mods does add a possible contingency to game longevity which does not exist in the default SLS definition of the endgame loop which is to say in PvE lacking substance, in which case you might right...

However, mods do add a certain spice that is much needed to the bland dish which is post Dracula in PvE. https://gyazo.com/627610538df05c226198e35e44e47803

I made a doppelganger Solarus here spawned in front of my castle - increased his level, HP and damage beyond the base server values on Brutal (Bloody Boss). This is to closely reflect my own raised stats since I'm using an RPG mod (Bloodcraft) which is not based on gear score. I also removed his default drop table as I don't need his shard instead giving him a 35% chance to drop a special currency to be redeemed at custom vendor (Bloody Merchant) for specific items some more mundane others which are not available for players without being able to access the game files.

The bigger servers which run mods i.e., VEXOR where most of the mods are developed have this method in place - edit the boring endgame loop with custom admin crafted events + custom rewards, thereby increasing player retention long after the core progression has been completed.

Brutal is dark souls mode.
The nerf were needed to make solo more viable on brutal since the bosses were unfair for their level

bosses up until like last 4 were alright, it just takes more effort and skill, different combinations of builds and abilities

Beside the boring more HP and deal more Damage bosses have new moves, that's the only interesting thing.

True, i still get angry at some brutal bosses but the truth is that they tended to 1 hit or 2 hit kill in the their second phase and most you can only fight during the night and need a certain blood.
By the time you finished act 2, you could already just only do boss fights.
The problem was the early game bosses in my opinion since you didnt have ways to get stronger or get a constant source of blood.
I would say they fixed the difficulty spike for solo brutal wich only lasts until general elena

You should definitely try it with different bosses at the same time if you do.
