Saw that video. Usually I enjoy them, but I found this one to leave a sour taste in my mouth.

Yeah. The genre requires some buy in AND as he ran into the issue that some of the systems aren't the clearest to grok. Fair review imo, and I love this game

It very much came off as someone who had a predetermined opinion due to the genre being one he dislikes and as a result he invested absolutely no effort into even really trying. The game really isn't that complicated, as ARPGs go its actually very straightforward, so the part of him being confused by thread says he really didn't even try at all.

The only thing I think he hit on that was really valid is the default settings are asinine with things like the teleport restriction and the absurdly slow resource grind. The game is vastly superior with all those settings maxed and that should be the default in single player.

I miss reviewers like Totalbiscuit that actually put in good faith effort to fully explore the titles they were reviewing. This one at barely 6 minutes, a lot of which was spent on inane jokes about its name, barely qualifies as a joke review if we're honest.

Some things in the game do feel like a road block and absolutely none of them are the wool thread (skill issue).

He only reviewed the game due to its recent surge of popularity and didn't give it a true chance or address most of the real pros and cons of the game.

videos like this are why i stopped watching Zero Punctuation many years ago. Barely any effort put into engaging with the mechanics, people probably think the game is click to move because of how bad he described it, and leaves factually incorrect information in the video (saying you NEED the special flooring to craft certain items)

i don't hate the ZP format, but people will rightfully point to videos like this when they say things like "Yahtzee isn't a critic and never has been"
