Hi there! We'll know more in the future but essentially the whole idea behind V Risings lore is that you have awakened to find Draculas empire in shambles and the humans spreading across lands that used to be controlled by him.
Throughout the game you struggle against the powers that have grown up in his absence as well as your fellow Vampires in order to take the lands Dracula used to control and make them your own empire.
Now you find that Dracula isn't quite as dead as we thought, and he doesn't like it that we're attempting to claim his crown and his legacy.
I'd be angry too >=[
So basically instead of like "Oh Dracula i thought you were dead i was taking the lands of your reing in your absence, they are yours again"
Is more like:
"I'm Dracula i was resting and getting power to take my lands back and you did that for me and instead of getting a common ground i will just kill you for taking back my lands and removing all those one that defy my name"
Seems quite cheese tbh. Dracula overal and even in castlevania still cared about other people.
Back when, Dracula had firmly established that he was at the top of the food chain. And you can bet he didn't tolerate dissent back then either.
Now he's come back, but he's significantly weaker than he once was, and his former subordinates are stronger - and have gained a taste of independence. The vampires we play don't want to go back to being Dracula's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and Dracula won't tolerate anyone who won't bend the knee. Therefore, battle it is, to determine who will be the top dog.
Castlevania? Dracula's lore comes from a Bram Stoker novel, not a Konami game lol. He is the king of vampires in practically every version of the character outside of Castlevania.
Dracula isn't gonna share the moonlight with us. He wants to be the top, its like saying because were both human we should both be looking out for each other but always be that person who will sell you out for a dollar. Same deal Dracula don't care about us, were not an apprentice or some kind of servant even were left on our own in a graveyard to rot.
The point of this game is a lot of people want you dead, including Dracula, just he does give two ♥♥♥♥♥ till you become a big boy, till they he litterally leaves you to die to the fodder in the starting zone.
It's not "We're all vampires, lets be allies and fight the humans together!" That's not how modern vampires think. Their way of thinking is "We'll fight the humans together out of necessity or because we gain something from it, but if I see a chance to gain more power I'll betray you and do so."
Dracula is the top dog. You've been claiming his past territory as your own. He's not happy about it. He wants to take his territory back. Meanwhile you don't want to give up the territory you fought so hard to obtain, and see Dracula as a relic of a bygone age that should stay gone.
You shouldn't be applying the sensibilities of humans with a decent heart, to basically evil undead monsters in human form.
