A little late but wanted to add for anyone else that might experience this: After you've double checked windows sound options are set to your headset (verify by playing audio from another source to be sure), within V Rising Options, go to Sound, scroll to the bottom under Misc and make sure your Soundcard selected is for your headset (or replace "headset" in my example with your preferred sound output device).
