CC needs a hard rework
I have already witnessed this before with Stunlock Studios (i wish their company name wasn't ironic) previous games where they let it boil out of control and it has now returned again with the addition of jewels and shattered weapon effects in the Gloomrot update.

While they added some woefully inadequate diminishing returns, it's ONLY applied to 3 out of like 10 crippling debuffs that you can currently reliably spam 24/7 on other players every 4-5 seconds with the help of jewels & shattered weapons. This includes freezes to set up static melt attacks from spears/guns/axes or stuff like the "silence" effect that stops you from doing everything, including swinging your weapon.

As it stands, they have no counters whatsoever. The few rare cleansing effects that exist on abilities need to be cast, which you can't do while CC'ed. Getting these effects yourself is 110% dependent on pure RNG and jewels & shattered weapons in general with their current iteration seems to have gone through zero actual game-play testing despite being in development for a year.

Why not take it one step further and have everyone stop playing the game entirely? That way no one has any issues with anything. Genius.

It's a problem that can be pretty easily solved by implementing diminishing returns that actually work (and/or nerfing certain skill & weapon combos) and while I am perfectly capable of using these extremely scummy tactics myself, having a 97% winrate in Bloodline Champions at 1000+ matches played but i simply don't want to because it makes PVP one-sided and boring beyond belief.

I agree completely. Silence is brokenly powerful. No dimishing returns on stun after stun and with jewels it adds more CC on skills that normally don't have them.
This seems like a niche issue since PVP isn't the main focus of the developers.

It may be YOUR focus of why you play the game, but it is not ever going to be the main focus of the devs.

At best they could maybe toss a cleanse potion into the game to help give you ways to remove debuffs on you... but if they start trying to balance things around PVP players, they end up screwing up PVE balance.

In the long run I honestly rather they just ignore PVP all together and let the community do what they will with it, and focus most of their limited development resources into the actual GAME and finish the remaining zones.

Then when they have a solid framework that they can work with, they can worry about pvp balance..... the game is still developing.... so to ask them to balance something that is evolving is just wasted resources. The game will change even more as the rest of the zones come out, the entire meta they would establish NOW if they listened to your complaints would be thrown out the window by the end of development, causing them to have to REBALANCE everything again.
