How to get the Study and make iron???

I have so many books but no study. I am gear level 22 ish at castle level 3.

I am also struggling to make iron???? I found 80 iron ore, brought it back to my base, but in the furnace, it's greyed out. I have the required resources.

you need kill quincey to unlock iron craft

look on your map in the farbane forest, there is a bandit stronghold in the middle north of it, entrance blocked by pallisade, use your bear form to smash it or explosive, there is a boss at the top of the stronghold, killing him and sucking his blood will unlock you the knowledge you seek, also further down you'll want to venture in dunley farmland at the north of this.

and the books you need to use on the correct table it is in the description of the book where it goes and if it is repeated book there is no way it is 1 book for each space if it is repeated put it in the devourer to get 10 papers/parchments etc

Just adding to this, the research table will handle the low level books, but if you're picking up iron then I'm guessing you might also have picked up some books that require the next level study table. That table is unlocked by killing a certain gear score 47 boss I believe, so you'll just have to put those books in a chest or something until you can get that done.

For now you'll have to focus on killing that bandit boss so you can forge iron and get your gear score up, because it's highly unlikely you'll be able to kill that level 47 boss in level 22 gear.

So, bandit boss is impossible because it requires bear form or explosives. I do not have either. Bear boss is level 35...wtf?

Im simply asking why iron is greyed out despite the fact that I can see it as an option and I have the in game material resources required. I don't see how that could possibly make me unintelligent

All the recipes for the "refining" placeables show up all the time, but those you haven't unlocked are "greyed out". It's a bit weird how it is so different between the refining and crafting, where the crafting recipes don't show up visually until you've unlocked them.

I believe the bandit boss is an even higher level, so if you can't take out the bear you probably can't take out the bandit boss either.

Try to get yourself some buff potions, possibly wait for a "blood moon (gives some buff I can't remember) and just run with all of the buffs you can. I believe you also can research some "merciless" versions of the gear you already have to boost your Gear Score some more.

This part of the game has pretty much halted my progression. kinda dont like how I cant traditionally "grind"
