Purpose of Frog Form?

I thought I would be able to jump back to high cliffs, but I can't, and saw no prompt to use it.
What is the purpose of frog form, why is this relevant to the game play?

Can't you already do this with the wolf form spectral dash? I think Frog Form might be an oversight or placeholder right now.

Frog was in before wolf dash was.
But ye, for now it's mostly for being a frog

You can use frog form to jump up one height high cliffs. It's really niche but occasionally you can take shortcuts with it. There's a backdoor to the silver mine you can use with it, for example, though it's not necessary at all.

I expect it to either get reworked or removed at some point.

It would be great to be able to jump back on hills. I think this would be a better repurpose.

You can use the backdoor to the Silver Mines even without frog form. And you can't jump back UP the backdoor with frog form (I've tried. Repeatedly), so it seems kinda useless even for that.

You know, you're right. I remember being able to use it to get to certain places but I cannot think of any specifics. Maybe they were removed with the Gloomrot update or I'm making things up. Right now, there's so few places you can use it and almost all of them have a ramp close at hand.

It really is a silly form without a purpose.

It was useful before gloomrot, now it's pointless when you can jump with wolf form.

Then they just need to add enemies to the water, and let ranged units shoot into it.

To add something like that they would have to add an important mechanic behind this. Maybe, in the future, we have a big update with aquatic lifeform theme or something like that, but swimming just because it's fun isn't a reason to make it happen.

How is that a problem? The player can't do anything in water either, and shape shifting is incredibly difficult in battle.

so to be clear there is a thing frog brings that wolf and horse do not. They cannot cross gaps, say there is a fence garden in a diagonally adjacent tile, frog can cross that gap where wolf and horse cannot.
