static spear needs tuned down
every other weapon pales in comparison currently. dagger E to stun, then swap to static spear and watch whoever you hit instantly melt and die. then, coupled with freeze meta (4 second stun essentially, ice lance + frost shield) you guarantee your static spear hits. every server i go to, dojo, official, or public admin servers everyone uses spear at the moment. (solo duo's though, im sure 3-4 squad servers spear may not be as dominant)

for anyone who played the game when it came out, you probably remember axes and how their 4 second stun basically dominated pvp? well static spear is that but better now.

now it can get even worse with jewels, ice block needs tuned down as well. in 1v1 it's nearly impossible to break by yourself, and if they have a T3 jem they get enhanced healing, if you hit it you get chilled, and when it breaks you get frozen. since you will be frozen for a good portion of the fight they have a lot of skill CD breathing room, plus the 1.5 second spear Q basically means they can put you on the backfoot the entire time, then retreat back to ice block for heals and free CD, and if you try to break it? well tough ♥♥♥♥.

I'm well aware the update just came out, but i can't help but feel certain skills and weapons are just miles ahead of others, that and the memory leak really make the game unfun to play.

anyways, if you think i'm just bad then go to a dojo server right now, 9/10 fights involve spear and freeze for good burst damage. bone explosion is used fairly often as well + shields in general. most of the spells in the game go unused, and you only see spear + axes + dagger + maul, but mainly spear and dagger, or spear + gun E.


tl;dr - spear needs dramatically tuned down, or at least static spear. freeze/ice meta in general needs reworked so you don't sit frozen in your own piss for 4 seconds (can be made longer with jewels), ice block needs heavily nerfed in some aspect(and its gems). spear lance shouldn't instant freeze, even if the cast time is longish, and frost shield jewel needs tuned down as well. overall abilities need reworked so it isn't the same 3-4 abilities every fight.

Decent write up, I've found a few of the same issues myself. I agree with a lot of this, with that in mind I hope you don't take this badly: steam is just about the worst place to have taken the time to write all of this. Given the nature of these forums, rare is the dev who gives this place the time of day.

OP is actually based. Everything said is true and needs to be tuned down.

i don't think the spear needs a nerf, but the way static works. It should either trigger only on M1's or they should introduce small cooldown on triggering the effect (like half a second or smth)

I have no clue how to balance ice block to be in line with other defensive abilities without making it useless. As of now it provides too much value, the shield is too big and the healing is too strong, you can't break the shield without using 1-2 of your own abilities, which is already a valuable trade and if you ignore it the person just gets immense amount of healing for free without any requirements. And it's even without considering the jewels that can substantially increase it's power/utility.
Yeah, i was utterly shocked to see that they continued to let the spear be completely broken.

Adding TONS of more CC but you don't touch the weapon that melts people for 60% of their hp if they don't move for 0.9 seconds? Just what?

I have. the counter is run static spear and freeze meta. work on your reading comprehension.

The pvp balance is indeed a giant mess right now.
People are landing 100% arctic leap hits on enemies in air from storm counter.

Soulburn being broken but also having very buggy/funky functionality on silence trigger. If you get silenced 1 time for 3.2 sek you can lose 50-90% hp just like that.

Ice block being utter menace. Even if they fix the bug where you can charge primary with chill from it, and then frost dash and insta freeze an unchilled enemy with the help of consume chill to freeze jewel on frost dash.

And let's say youre using something like storm counter and ice block. It can be ALOT of seconds where the enemy cannot damage you or anything, and during all this time your other cooldowns are just ticking down, resulting in possible ridiculously low vulnerability windows on you. Also knows as the double defense problem which is rotating between 3 i-frames and 2 defensive spells. This is not interesting pvp.

Perfect physical static spear legendary does indeed melt people.

And let's not forget scholar with lance, hitting lance on you 2 times in a row because of lance recast aha.

A thing to keep in mind for all of this is that the devs do not pvp in this game. But if they do, it's not anywhere near high level pvp.
