Honestly, the bosses just get ridiculous after level 70. For this boss, I highly recommend the veil of chaos, it gives you two dashes to get away, you need that extra mobility. Blood fountain is a must for every boss, it keeps you healed so you can tank some of those ridiculous mechanics that are hard to dodge. Lastly, for my primary spell ability, I usually use bone explosion or death knight, death knight if the boss is easy to distract because it'll summon an additional mob, or bone explosion if there are mob summons. Regardless, it took me an average of 5-10 tries on a boss after level 70. Frostmaw took me maybe 3 tries this time around, it's a huge pain in the ass.
Blood fountain is a losing move because it is strictly inferior to a Block/Counter/Barrier type skill.
Almost any damage you take will need multiple blood fountains to heal back, and by then the damage compounds.
If you really must heal then use Veil of Blood + Crossbow/Pistols for safer heals.
Veil of Blood scales off max HP, while Blood Fountain just scales off Spell Power.
There is no problem just playing 2 defensive skills in almost any boss fight, the only true exception is Voltatia.
When it comes to this guy I just go Slashers. I use one counter move and one other spell. With the Slashers I can I-Frame through some of his moves and counter the Big freeze moves. When he does his Blizzard move I just Dash through the first move and Camo the second. Large portion of that Blizzard is just him skiing around and wasted waiting to attack me.
Again, for whatever reason he's more fixated on killing the wild life when I go camo. Maybe give it a try around some Bears and wolfs. Mooses run off and can reset the fight.
