A talk about Pollen

So I've been kicking this idea about in my head wondering if I should make it a proper feedback thread on Stunlock's official feedback board or not, figuring others might have further input on this.

Pollen is useless. Yes, it's quintessential in crafting Coarse Thread, forming the base building block of Loom production for the mid and late games. But from a standpoint of functionality, it need not exist. My rationale for this is that Plant Fiber is FAR harder to get without going out to literally cut grass. and is impossible to grow ourselves. To say nothing of how much MORE you need it for so many other things, from Paper production, Cloth creation, and basic Rat farming.

The obvious intent is that any flower we wouldn't use elsewhere be ground into pollen. Why not cut the middleman out and have any unused flower instead be ground down into plant fiber, and have the loom ask for plant fiber + any flower to craft coarse thread then? The grinder's recipe shows us this is an option, and the only other plants needed in direct Loom recipes are now Cotton and Ghost Shrooms. This would keep flowers not being used for mob generation or potion crafting useful even into late game for the basics. Pollen just complicates an otherwise simple process imo.

Honestly, the only beef I have with pollen is how little of it you get in exchange for the many much-more-useful-elsewhere flowers you grind up to get it, and then conversely how much of it is needed to make a single output of coarse thread.

You have to collect significantly more flowers than plant fiber, which is plentiful everywhere and often collected entirely by accident while doing other things just by the process of swinging your weapon for ANY reason.

This is precisely why I think pollen should be removed. Flower growth could easily take care of both parts of the base production cycle later in the game. Especially now that we have pot fixtures that we can line the inside of the base with.
