... what IS a "miststone"?
Completely unrelated to gameplay or features or anything, just... what exactly is a "miststone" supposed to be?

My best guess is that they didn't want to say "diamond" because that label comes with an unavoidable expectation of being more valuable than other gems...

actually looks a lot more like aquamarine than diamond. ;o
I guess Miststone sounds a lot more disconnected from reality and "fantasy"-ish.

Guess topaz is the closest match to that particular nuance(just use google images and you will see some that closely look like a mist stone)

Irl, the closest to a mist stone I can imagine would be a Mist Rock, at least they're called rocks. They just look like regular white rocks, they're not gems, you'll see them in a ton of lawns especially in London.

Ingame, I imagine they're like Quartz, but a proper gem. It's like mist inside a cage, but if you smashed it you'd just realize it was part of the gem, that's just how it looks. If I could look at it in first person, my best guess as to what I'd see would be different from any kind of clear gem we have like Topaz, Emerald etc. It's the one gem that isn't clear.

It's got the same value as the other gems, so it's not a diamond counterpart. If it were, mist stones in this game would just have different magical properties, making it just another gem apart from its unique hazy interior.

If you wanted a proper answer and not speculation, I don't have 'em lmao.
