Weapon choice is up to you. I frequently swap as I fight.
I was using Cyclone and Phantom Aegis. I think Phantom Aegis is probably not a good choice for this fight. I dont have Ward of the Damned yet, but Frost Ward might work. Alternatively Blood Rite to maybe damage ciricling adds (which is what Cyclone is for as well)
I haven't beaten the bosses for Greatsword, Slashers or Reaper yet :P
I mostly didn't want to waste the bloodmoon and I'm swimming in Study tomes so I rushed to Maja. I'll go back with a higher quality blood, potions, and a better weapon/spell combo as try it again later.
I wouldn't worry about blood moons. I've never felt like they were what helped me win any fight. If there are potential upgrades available for you, like maybe your amulet if you've not defeated Leandra, then grab that. A few extra gear score can really make the difference.
But to your point yes I have beaten Leandra and upgraded to the scourgestone pendant. Any future upgrades require the study. Or at least I think they do.
The only powerups available that I didnt have were potions and my warrior blood quality was only like 38% or something.
Lower tier bosses I still need are Kriig, Tristan, Putrid Rat, Boneblade guy aaannnd I think thats it?
Anyways just a quick tip for not just Maja but other slow ranged casters: directly behind them is the safest spot you can be while also allowing you to do some heavy duty melee dmg.
Then Ward of Frost to tank book and ink attacks as you move towards her which will also damage her. Then I used Corpse Explosion on her and nearby ink demons and the sword spin attack when she tried to heal. That was enough to prevent the healing if I was already close to her.
Maybe a 2 min fight tops.
I'll add to this that you can probably cancel one of her casts every 8 seconds with greatsword Q, and be invincible for another full second every 8 seconds with greatsword E.
Once you start playing like, with controlling the field in mind instead of playing for damage, everything becomes pretty much trivial imho, and you often end up doing more damage because you open the field to do so.
She moves too much and when she heal she usually has a stack of zombies protecting the one you need to hit
Full Blood Spells with No real Gemmed Effects to impact the fight. Blood Dash to her for health regen, Blood Rite to Block the Ink move, and Blood Rage to DPS the Ink Demon being consumed by her. My gear level at the time was around mid 40s. I can't remember right now, I think she's 47? So I might have been 2 or 3 levels below her.
She's not a very fun boss, Feels like a DPS race. Mostly cause the lower her health the More she summons Random ink demons. Maybe it was just me and Bad RNG with her summons, I didn't notice any cues or ways to stop her from the Triple Ink Demon Summons.
