They'd need to make it weak enough so you don't need it, but decent enough to justify using, otherwise it'll just become like another potion to chug. Balancing this one is going to be weird.
Yea, it would be tough to balance in such a competitive game like this. It only worked in Skyrim because Skyrim is strictly single player and being a lesser vampire is a disadvantage.
Still, it just feels like the natural next step in vampire evolution. So I really do hope that it gets implemented.
First option was, pricier base game, no DLC.
Second option was, cheaper base game, cosmetic DLC only.
Playerbase picked the cheaper base game with cosmetic DLC. There won't be DLC that adds anything non-cosmetic.
I do believe that they will pursue the model of releasing content update for free + matching paid cosmetic DLC with the update. Wouldn't be unheard of, Space Engineers follows a similar model.
The game has at least two more Gloomrot-sized updates on the roadmap leading to launch. Post-launch support has yet to be discussed, I believe, but this is Stunlock's most successful game by far so I wouldn't rule it out.
So make it useless. Glad you're not on the design team.
You don't get it do you, they rigged it.
They knew people would want a cheaper game, so they could make cosmetic dlc to get more money.
I personally have all the dlc, and dlc means more money for the dev crew.
More money means more resources etc.
If you don't plan on buying the dlc then.... don't? also kudos you got the game for cheaper due to community decision. Just because they made the bar of entry cheaper doesn't mean they have less resources, if anything it would of resulted in more sales due to it being more accessible to more people.
Game very much has a future, but them making the basegame cheaper does mean development will slow if people do not buy the DLC, as opposed to a pricier basegame with no DLC; the extra money would not be needed if people paid more simply to play the game. From what I've seen here, people are into the idea of the DLC, a lot of them treat it as a donation to the developers due to the poll. A way of thanks for allowing players to make decisions that impact their income.
PVP is fundamentally unbalanced due to gear levels and unlocks so I don’t see much reason balancing the game around it.
Ideally I’d make it a timed ability that needs to be recharged. Like a hail mary for when you’re in deep trouble.
That just sounds like an ultimate skill. Which I could see. 10-15s transformation that gives a new skillset. Probably not what the OP really wants, though.
