You could easily have entrances pop up at random spots on the map, then once you enter the dungeons it could transport you to its own separate instance that doesn't take up map space.
but it has to be instanced since if its in the open world you would just get griefed, not to mention outright killed in pvp.
so dont have any hopes for it
A funny idea as long as i am not the one playing it, lul.
Yeah of course, but the game working on more than a 2d plane now certainly makes it easier to achieve and more seamless, so it makes more sense to integrate that now. ;o
Would break the flow of gameplay if you had an entrance and it teleports you to another map, now that the map is 3d, is possible to integrate underground dungeons and the like, under the map that is already there.
They essentially already have dungeons in game. We all start in one at the beginning!
Come on, you know what I mean, Im talking about real dungeons with lots of rooms and dark hallways, maybe a boss at the end. I know these quarries/mines exist in the game and they are undoubtedly cool. But what I'm talking about are some really complex underground tunnel systems with a specific theme. You could say the subterranean counterpart to the overworld, kinda like in Elden Ring if that's an example to you.
That could open up completely new thematic worlds, especially when it comes to enemys. I find this commemoration very exciting to be honest and I hope the developers already have something in the planning when it comes to that ;-)
Oh no, don't get me wrong. What I'm saying is that the "tech" is technically already there. I guess they do show up as maps on the main map, but they are instanced spaces, meaning they can create more easily. I'm all up for it and I think it would be a great addition.
Besides, there's a holy order as the big bad in this game (kind of), and we all know cathedrals and such love a good catacomb/dungeon/crypt or whatever else.
Ah, I understand and appreciate that. Please excuse me, I sometimes still have problems with English. I work with Google Translate and to be honest that doesn't make it much better xD
The game still had a Y-Axis, and many areas had varying heights. However, Gloomrot introduced being able to have tiles/floors above and below one another, and I would say that is the bigger feature.
But yes, underground dungeons - most likely ones that follow more of a roguelite design - would be nice. I do think this game lacks in the endgame PvE content, and simply adding new locations with more bosses to beat won't fix that. Because as long as the game is linear from beginning to end, there is a hard ending point.
Introducing dungeons would give PvE players something to do once they beat everything.
Just look at what our first choice of abode is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ evil looming castle on a hilltop!
We are the baddies, we'd be in the dungeons. Not the humans.
In those dungeons there would be other undead, werewolves and maybe some insect-like monsters, not just humans my guy ;-)
