Building higher floors
I've built a L-shaped floors in the corner of my castle and now it nicely leads me up to the roof. A perfect sun trap for my friends during the day.
However, I wanted to simply get higher floor in my castle. When I get up those stairs at night, I can just watch surroundings as I am unable to place floors or anything really...
How can I make higher level floors now?

Build the stairs, the just place flooring like you did to make the ground floor.

When I try it says that it needs to be placed on the ground - at least when trying to place the basic floor

Watched my niece do it today she used the foundation, the new one from the DLC, any of the castle floorings should work.
