Another problem I heard about is that your beginning ground level counts against the max z axis you can climb, so if your server caps the z axis at 2 floors building on any of the hills would essentially count as that second floor.
Place floor at the end of the stairs foundation to expand floor.
So go to the top of the stairs, and add a "foundation" anything in the floors at the end of top part of the stairs and go from there :D
I also found that you have to be extra careful how and where you place your stairs and need to plan very very precisely in advance before building higher floors. Because once you built a 2nd floor, you have no chance to dismantle the stair. Probably cecause the connection to the castle ground gets deleted with it so the game doesn't allow it.
They should make it possible to delete the stair and till you build a new one, you only get no access to the 2nd floor
Thats a point they shall fix, as I see it as a bug, since no castle would be like that at the really bottom, most places are highers ups to built at. Thats a point they shall looked into while programming it lol
The workaround for this one is to place another set of stairs that will connect to the same floors your stairs are connected to.
