Yeah, new EA kiddos loosing their mind to server wipes and paid DLCs
Though I expect you would have lost everything even if you had a back up. They massively changed how Territory works, mostly(entirely) for the bad. Big Castles with sprawling grounds isn't really something that can exist anymore.
I get the impression they're really struggling to make it all work. They defiantly over promised.
There was no way to avert this. The fundamental map code was changed at the core. This game was factually 2D, and they changed that to be true 3D. That and the map itself is physically different, so old castle would be in invalid location.
They changed too much to retain compatibility.
Old saved wont work on new version due to mechanic changes. Even first region got rewoked despite its not being important for this update.
Devs was warning about saves wipe for some time.
