Greatsword is... Great Garbage?
Q is average at best, does okay damage and disrupts enemy attack animations, BUT... has long windup and leaves you vulnerable, more so than for example Mace Q.

E though is complete garbage, it has I-frames, but it is basically a WORSE Slashers Q.

Does the lowest damage of all E's except Slashers, but Slashers have insane utility.

Greatsword's only use seems to be "When you need a few extra i-frames instead of damage". That's it.

Pistols on the other hand are at least MUCH better in PvE.

Is there any argument for not buffing Greatsword E to at least 140, if not 150% ?

I felt like GS wasn't very good at first. But then I figured out how to properly use E and Q. In that order, in fact. GS Q is hitting harder than Mace Q. And if you use GS E first, you can close the gap with GS Q, basically giving you a huge burst of damage.

Yeah, honestly a bit disappointed by it. I wasn't expecting it to be any better than other weapons, really, since balance and all, but presently it just feels like worse Mace. Riskier without much of a payoff.

greatsword is pretty good against mobs. Also seems to be able to parry sometimes...

Seems devastating against normal enemies, but very difficult to use against bosses from what I can tell so far (but I also don't like the slowness of the mace either so.. the locked in slow animation swings I feel like really make dodging bosses way too difficult)

GREATSWORD should go in the direction of Souls games, big range, low attack and big numbers, right now its just a sword with a dash and a leap that feel underpowered not because of damage but because of versatility.

It is definitely very good for clearing groups, you charge in and get a knockup and then follow with E, generally you can execute someone with a bite right after.

Having played more with it, I have to very much agree with Drahzere. Against normal enemies, it's pretty nice. Against bosses... E and Q are difficult to land. And even when you do land Q on a boss, most of the later bosses can't be knocked up by the attack, so it just ends up as a repositioning skill.

Also agree with Vantech. It should be doing far more damage than it is with the slow attack rate.

its the same with the pistols, they are good for certain stuff but overall they arnt amazing, the Q should have a -75% movement speed instead of immobile though i think, i just get fed up with them in packed fights and switch to mace, the E ability on pistols relieves no pressure because the dash is too short and the mobs retarget you after dash immediately. the E or the Q would put them into a real competitive spot but maybe they dont want that, we'll see what we can really make of them when everything is unlocked.
Single target the pistols are pretty strong. The robots in North Gloomrot are a great use for them. Their range is also incredibly silly. Why are archers firing off arrows that have more range than the width of my 2560x1440 screen, but my pistols don't shoot further than I can spit?

Agreed that pistols Q should have a movement reduction, not lock you in place.

It's a very situational weapon, okay AOE, Q is pretty cool to put pressure. The E stinks would work better if it did a lunge attack like Tristan
Wafflebutt May 20, 2023 @ 3:46pm
Q staggers / stuns normal mobs and E gives you I frames while both hit hard and 1 combo usually leaves mobs at low health.
Dregora May 20, 2023 @ 4:33pm
For normal mobs it's great, bosses less so.

In pvp, what I usually do is frost shield so they get frozen, shoot the freeze bird, then Q into E. Pretty good damage if you manage to land it and it's very free if executed.

I need to experiment more with the grand F***ery but I think the balance on new weapons has to do with jewel enhancements and the few new spells. For instance, if you use bloodrage with +% duration jewel, and then the electric dash, that's some 45% increased attack speed. Then with axes land your target with Q. Now you have maybe 2 seconds of holly balls action. Slower weapons like the mace or GS have a more noticeable effect with the speed alterations. I need to lvl up more to see what the effect is with jewellery benefits. But yeah, test the altered effects on it and it may surprise ya.

i love it for gathering wood, better than axe tbh

That assumes either squad (4v4) combat or your opponent (1v1) does almost nothing, which is a dumb thing to assume.

A single Mosquito cast is unblockable and will Fear you away wasting those 2 seconds.

There are also other spells and skills that can put distance like Blood Rite, Mace E, etc.

It feels like the game is balanced for big 4v4 battles, as a lot of skills are very marginal in 1v1.

Correct.
