Pausing.

Does there exist anyway to pause the game? I have my private server set to 'solo only'. but opening the escape menu doesn't actually pause. is it just impossible due to the nature of how the private servers are hosted or somethin'? Any workaround?

I´d love to have a pause function too.
I tried using ALT+F2 with nvidia but sadly in this game it doesn´t work. To clarify in some games when you use alt f2 nvidia opens up a screenshot mode that in some games causes a pause.
Next thing I tried was a little programm called Univesal Pause Button but unfortunately this causes the connection to time out after unpausing.
This makes sense since you are even if playing solo still hostung an online game.

So if anyone has some ideas, i´d be thankful.

This game needs a true SP setting immediately. I know it's main focus is online but some people, myself included, just want to play a solo game and having to leave the 'server' every time i need to get up and go do something is a bit of a pain.

I think even if it's a private server, the host should be able to pause. I play with my buddy and if one of us goes afk, we kinda just lose blood or w/e and have to suffer that. A host based pause system would go a long way i think.

I totally agree. It´s by far not the first time this topic is brought up. Hopefully the devs have this one planned for one of the next patches.
Can´t be too difficult to implement.

I would prefer a host-based pause setting, which would at the very least negate them having to change how servers for solo work as a whole, and would allow for more QOL freedom for duos or even triples or quads in a Private game. I hope the devs are reading this.

Not having this feaure is absolutly ridiculous. I cant play games without a pause option, and Im not the only one by far. Just googled "how to pause V Rising" and theres tons of people asking about it.
Even 100% online games allow you to pause when you are alone in the game, like diablo 3 or warframe

Indeed, a pause button for single player would be very welcome. Now I have to exit the game each and every time my attention it needed elsewhere.

Just sleep in your coffin/mansion until you finish doing whatever it is that you have to do.

I agree though, a proper "Pause" for singleplayer.

Don't think it pauses the game much for both of us though, and sometimes we aren't at the castle. Could be in a boss battle, or in Gloomrot, or wherever. Yes, there's ways to hide, but some points i just need to drop what I'm doing and go do somethin'.

+1. Got 200+ games in my library, and I have the option to pause in every single one of them (... that comes with a solo mode).
Except for V Rising. That's called a bug, or a poor game design decision, there's no defending that.

Agreed. Especially in a game where dying can be costly, even if I have blood drain and sun damage to zero. Doesn't change the fact that enemies can still kill me, and that's a blood potion down the drain and an inventory I now have to go and retrieve. or a boss fight I have to throw because something urgent came up.

The game "pauses" if you log out of the server if you're running the type of server that's only on the local machine that you have to click "host" to start playing. See the Cohhcarnage playlist for Secrets of Gloomrot to see an example of it. It's one of the earliest ones.

I think that the rest of this discussion kind of explains why that's so ridiculously inefficient/ineffective and why we want a proper pause system in place.

Too bad yet another game did this. Valheim started out with no pause, so I whined about it and gave them a thumbs down. But fortunately a pause-mod came out which solved the issue for me, and eventually the devs got the message and put in a real pause, at which point I switched it to an upvote. I'll just do the same here; post negative reviews until they make the game playble in SP.
