Can't build outside your territory anymore?
Hello,

so it is truth? I can't build NOTHING outside my territory anymore? I'm restricted to the small territory areas / castle areas from the map? If I have two territory side by side and I want to link them: There is no way? No garden anymore? Only in the restricted area of my territory?

Please tell me that I missed the possibilty to deactivate "this" in the server options? :ShockedOwlcat:

I'm a builder and PvE player. I play with a multigaming guild. Two of us have borrowed two server for some months. We make arrangements in our forum, we don't need limitations like this. Now the game have lost A LOT, A LOT of his attraction for me.
It was sutch an incredible feature to build large castles with wonderful, beautiful garden and to find options to keep somehow the nature enviroment, in your personal garden. They have taken this feature completly away from the game .... :franbow:

I'm 100% sure they'll have (private) server options to handle this, if they don't already. Was already using like 6 or 8 castle hearts before on my private game.

But yeah, I'm sure we'll get an option, or even a mod, since PVE seems to be the more popular playstyle for the game. Just glad they thought about and fixed the issue of people claiming roads and blocking people in castles.

Yes great ... by destroying the game for all builder and RPG people? Great .... :(
(sorry)

There is NO option like this in the game right now. If they will ever be? We don't know. If they notice that they destroy the game for a lot of people? We don't know ... if they care ... we don't know.

I'm really sorry for all the people who could not play cause of this horrible Grinder and Game-destroyer. I'm honest, I dit not even know there was sutch a problem cause I played on the guild server with guild member and we don't have problems like this. Or I had my own personal server made for me. But .... THERE COULD BE BETTER SOLUTION THAN NOW!

@Born to Coom
Take a look at the game "Smalland".

I understand the Intention for the Restrictions, yeah.
But thats all in Favor of the PVP Online Play. If they want to go more into this Direction, they should disable the Solo/Singleplayer Content completely, this way i can drop the Game early and not be utterly dissappointed after months of waiting for such a "great" Game :-/

Even if they are taking the PvP route in term of designs, whom i perfectly understand, i don't see why they should disable single player features only because YOU have a problem with the design. You don't like it, don't play the game, but don't make it like single player / private play with friends are useless features. This is the only way i play the game with friends and i don't want that feature to go away...

As a fully PvE/Builder player, i don't think it has destroyed the game at all.

Sure it's (far) more restrictive than the previous system.
But it still overall more interesting to build higher than larger. There is plenty of area that seems large enough. And you can even build floors over nothing, there is no stability system.

For each improvement done, i don't regret the change of building area. It's different, less good but a good way to counter toxic behaviours.

I'm not surprised either that it's not an option as it seems to have been designed that way to ensure the game not breaking apart. But i'm no dev, so i can just speculate.

I don't see how this could have been perceived as the "correct" solution to a fairly simple problem. Basic no-build zones and pathing checks to ensure open paths and better exclusion zones around player territory and constructions to prevent boxing-in should have been a fairly simple fix to a handful of trolls griefing people on servers a tiny minority of players play on. They didn't even need to do that much though, they could have just moderated their servers and banned griefers, people stop doing dumb stuff pretty fast if others are getting perma-banned from official servers over it. Instead they gut build freedom for everyone in a game that is largely about building? What?

It seems the Devs sacrificed horizontal space for vertical space. We can build upwards now, but have little space on the ground to build. I can't build sprawling castles anymore. :(
I don't mind the new territory system, but they need to have territories that are twice as big than the ones we currently have now.

And still it could always be a server option.
>restrict castles to territories (Yes or No)
Fixed
And then they'd have to deal with griefers making servers and luring people in to grief. What's YOUR solution to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥?
Be smart and dont' join servers with rules you dont want?

Seriously you're not suggesting that the devs should compensate for player's stupidity right?

If you don't like PVP don't join PVP servers, if you don't like a FFA grief fest don't join random servers with FFA grief rules.
The devs can't coddle and act like the players are babies.

There's so many solutions to this other than this lazy territory system.

* No build zones
* Expensive to build outside of your territory
* No doing 1 square snakey castle

Seriously all they had to do was prevent players from making more than 5 tiles in a row without having to make those tiles 2 width.
Would stop snakeing really fast and blocking other players when you have to go and make that snake 2-3 tile widths.

OF COURSE ALL OF THIS COULD BE A TOGGLEABLE OPTION AT ANY TIME.

So the devs have been really great about server options and customization of your world.

Why not just politely ask for a setting that disables the territory system for those who prefer the old style of claiming areas?

This is the whole thread in a nuttshell?
That's what everyone here complaining about territories is asking.

Because griefers will make tantalizing-looking servers and then lure people in just to grief them with the old options. Act like a little kid, get the toy taken away.

I didn't do nothing why should I suffer.

Legit don't fool proof your game. People join stupid servers? Win stupid prizes

the New stairs are great...
AND f...king big...
you need 4x1 fields to make a strait and a 3x3 to make an angle
and yes the building teretories are verysmall now, need like 2 houres and 2 castles to find a spot to build.

the update is good but for buiilders 2 stebs forward and at least 1 back to be honourest
Quintus_Fontane May 18, 2023 @ 3:00pm
Overall I don't mind the changes, and I LOVE the new verticality, but honestly I hate the fact that on all the base sites you can't even have just a couple of tiles at the bottom of the plateau's stairs to make a fancy little entrance anymore, or even just place floors there to stop giant rock nodes spawning in front of your gate. I know it's a weird nitpick, and I understand why it'd be an issue on the plateaus with more than one claim site for folk who play MP, but on the ones with just one claim area, there's just no reason you shouldn't be able to have a few tiles at the bottom. Absolutely none.

Also I haven't built there yet, but hovering over the claim site on the map it looks like that big plateau east of the werewolf village, the really thematic one, you can't even build stairs on all the winding steps leading up to it anymore (And honestly that was one of its biggest selling points as a location because you could make the climb up to your castle look amazing). I feel like this wouldn't be a terribly difficult thing to tweak, or add as a server option when folk are setting their solo or private server up.

I am also very disappointed by the fact that my castle can't be as big as I thought it could be... I truly hope the devs will change this system by giving us more freedom in construction.
