lmao sorry pro player with small brain, maybe one day I tell you the secret
Are you gonna pay me for that? You can do it with reset servers too what is the problem with have options with dedicated oficial servers?
The castle heart decay mechanic was enough to keep active players. No need for scheduled PVE server wipes.
either way it seems like you want something very little people in the community care about, hence the decision, so idk how to help you
Yeah, until 1.0 hits, and they add some emergent gameplay for end game, having to wipe after 6 months is no big deal.
While I agree with the main underlying idea of your rant that games should be enjoyed the way they're meant by the devs and that some type of games by design requires some "investment" that not all have, I find your vision of gamers and gaming world quite sad.
In my opinion Gaming is not reserved to some elite who can commit to a given minimum time of their life to be awarded the "gamer" badge and that others without the same comitment are taking from their enjoyment.
I used to play a lot of hours but now, as many ppl I have to work and even a toddler to take care of, but I still consider myself a gamer even if I can barely play 45min sessions or not at all some days. We're all part of the gaming world (yes even sims players) even if you wished otherwise.
That said, I agree that not all games should be disgned for the same time frame, and those that I cannot afford the time I pass even if I wished I could play them. There are games for all the tastes and time involvement.
That's why they created the ability to have private servers, and for people to host their own servers with their own rules.
But lets be clear. The game is still in early access. More likely than not, there will be more server wipes after the next big update anyways. We should really be saving complaints like this for after the game is released.
As more content gets added, the traditional 1 month wipe feels very short, the 3 months server sounds perfect.
One month wipes are only on PvP servers, which also have 3 month servers as well. With PvP, wipes are more important, because a big part of the emergent gameplay, is the battle over resources while you are teching up. Like killing someone on their way back from a copper run, preventing them from getting new weapons right away.
Also, once people start to hit max level, they will basically become overpowered bullies to anyone new that joins a server.
In short I don't mind wipe option but am disappointed they left no long term servers.
Dude, just join a private server that aligns with your interests. If you can't find one, they're very easy to set up even if you're new. Google is flooded with guides on the subject if you run into trouble.
You're not being punished at all, what's up with the victim card? They manage servers based on how the wide majority of players use them.
And one other point - this game is in Early Access. Part of the deal is that you gotta be ready for a patch that breaks your save. Don't expect to run an Early Access game for six months, it's just not reasonable or sensible.
PS - If you manage to keep yourself busy in a single character for six months, please share your tips lol. This isn't exactly World of Warcraft here. You can 100% this game in less than a week and be bored out of your mind unless you're in a tight nit community that persists.
