No official servers without 6 months wipe?
Seems all the official servers have scheduled 6 months wipe. Are we doomed to keep to have to start over on official servers?

Yes, the servers need wipes to keep a healthy balance every so often. Plus half a year is plenty long for a pve server

You're not even going to play that long, let's be real here.

True that, besides, the content isn't massive anyway, even once every 1-2 months would be fine too, 6 months is overkill

oh well I played over 6 month and never finished, I may stay in a private save then sadly

If you want a permanent file then go private, if you want to play the game as it's meant to, then play anything but private. After all this time, people have not developed the mindset of starting over again, the game makes it easy to speedrun through and speed gather resources, nothing ever needs to be permanent because of the ease and simplicity of replacing it. This is not terraria or minecraft, the relatively small world compared to those places gives you limitations on how you can build even with the upcoming update, get over losing your stuff.

Some of us have jobs and other stuff IRL, 1 to 3 months isn't enough time for a pvp server

I've always loved the "some of us have jobs" argument.
"I can't have my game be too long, I have a job"
"I can't get as good as other players, it's not fair, I have a job"
"I can't play with everyone else because I fall behind, I have a job"
"I'm okay with the game having pay-to-skip content (think Dead Space 3) because not all of us have tons of time, some of us have jobs."
"why are games so difficult to learn, not all of us can sit around all day, we have jobs"
"lmao I can't play that game, it wipes every so often and I have a job."

I hate to be *that* guy, but uh...play a private server, dedicate more of your time, or accept the facts that the (gaming) world is going to tell you that playing games is for people who have time to play games.

just as it's "not fair" that people who work all day want to be able to enjoy certain time consuming hobbies (such as gaming), it's certainly not fair for people who *do* have the time to have their (game, content, etc) be lengthy, content-rich and enjoyable to have said (game, content, etc) make concessions to the wage-maker.

you could argue it's entitlement on both ends, but at the end of the day I'd say the tug-of-war goes to the gamer, because games are meant to be enjoyed on your free time. If you have to work, that's a shame. I get it, life is crap sometimes, sometimes unexpected expenses come up, maybe you have ambitions of a house or maybe you have to just to get by. I understand, man. You want to relax with something that's interesting to you. But you gotta bear in mind that these games *were* made *for* people who have more time. It's a fact of life that someone with more time on their hands is going to be better at something and video games are no exception.

I truly hope someday you can stop working and enjoy your life and this goes for anyone. But until that day arrives, it sounds *in-cred-i-bly* asinine to think that something meant to devour free time should cater to someone who doesn't have a lot of it. Don't get me wrong, some games do (via pay-to-win aspects or other) but it's a practice that destroys games. Please don't take away more from the gaming world.

or...they can have both options

I have a job and I'd be fine with wipes every 2-3 weeks.

great argument: "you can always play alone on a private server if you don't want your progress reset"

3 months on a pvp server is still really long there will be maxed out people on offical servers before the first 24 hours of this update more then likly if not shortly after

It's not an argument, it's just a fact.

What else do you want us to say? We aren't wizards.

Good for you bro but let me tell you the world dont resume around you, people have diferent ways to think, to play and to spend their time, I don't feel like to repeat the same ♥♥♥♥ progression over and over, I believe the game have space for all player style, already have diferent server with pvp and pve, why not servers with reset and without reset?
Doc Falk May 17, 2023 @ 7:21am
I can only guess, but maybe the devs want to reserve some leeway? Because there are 2 more large updates scheduled before release which *might* require wipes anyway?
