Server reset for Gloomroot
I don't have time to invest in this game all over again to achive what I did till now , I just wanted to play the dlc with what I have established allready , now I will not be able to play the game again , your game needs a bit dedication to build on and play if you are a solo player, I was just playing this game to chill, it is not my main game. Fresh servers are for sure a very good idea but not letting us play in old servers sounds very unfair

I think with the way they worded one of their statements, that they will be updating the official servers only, and you can choose to keep your own private servers at a lower patch level... I hope.

So the map changes where your base is, what happens then?????? this is early access meaning the game is subject to Complete change at any time. grow up. It is standard obvious procedure for these type of games when a big update arrives.

the map in where my base is not gonna change as far as I understand thats the problem , my old server is gonna keep at what it is or just gonna be a fresh old server which basicly means not much to me in both ways , I know the meaning of early access but it is something about if you wana keep everyone happy or not , there is alot of games keeps itself being in beta lets say without ripping all your progression over you, if it was a closed beta testing yes ripping the progression over you would make sense but early access or open beta doesn't means that you have to do it, thats how I see things at least

you will have the option to keep what you achieve at the cost of not getting the update content OP

sounds fair enough, as said already it's early access and devs stated multiple time that reset may be unavoidable in case of major updates.

well yeah so in the end sounds like a end for me in this game , they could just keep the areas we can build untouched while updating everything else around it , when I imagine I don't feel a massive need to touch these zones too , maybe pvp wise there could be , since I have played the game casually can't comment on this with %100 precision but yeah from a hype for me this update become a dead end

I am not sure what the purpose of this post is. From your review I can read you kind of already abandoned the game. The game was maybe too polished if that is what you can call it but it was still an early access game and things like this can happen. Unfortunately there is no way to keep the old save and integrate that into the new game because they have added a lot player requests and the castle system has been completely rewritten.

There are still 2 ‘upgrades’ planned but we currently don’t know what those entail. But keep in mind that before 1.0 R you could lose your castle again.

So. You don't wanna make a new save. Cool, that's fine.

But let's do an exercise here. So one of the things they said ages ago was being added to the farmlands area here is a quartz quarry because that's the area it's relevant to and where you're gonna start NEEDING quartz. So. What would be fair to whoever has their castle where the quarry is? Only they have to start over, signing on to find all their hard work destroyed by a new area? Randomly teleported to a new place, likely less than ideal because they likely picked that place for a reason?

Yeah it sucks when resets happen, but they are inevitable. You don't have to start from scratch if you don't want to. Spin up a private server and give yourself max level gear and all the techs unlocked and 95% of the grind is done.

My purpose was just telling my idea, since I'm a casual maybe I shouldn't have expressed my ideas about the reset since I can't talk with %100 precision that the game could build this quary somewhere else or since can't talk about how castle changes would have an impact on the current zone even if the quary was somewhere else. Probably I wouldn't return again even with 1.0 but thanks for the fun time you guys provided for me, was a great experience for a very fair price

I love how bent out of shape people are getting over a major content update for a game they supposedly enjoy.
It's like ya'll don't want anything to be improved/expanded upon in the game.

I hope they force reset all the servers.
Glyph May 10, 2023 @ 7:27am
They can't control privately managed servers, but people would be hard pressed to not update them since the game itself auto updates.

The majority of this game's waiting period is material processing (which you can go into world settings at world creation to speed up, and you probably should unless you like filling up your floor space with machines or are playing with other people) finding blueprints (which you can brute force with printing somehow), and locating V bloodstock (this is always annoying, understandable). With the improved combat and prior knowledge, it is quite easy to clear content you've already played, and I've done so at least a couple times myself. I'd already have to remodel my entire castle anyway, given the new options.

They've stated its for 2 reasons
1: The map is being revamped including old areas which may effect the area your base is.
2: They've had to fundamentally adjust the game to implement multi-floor castles as the game was made to work on a 2D plane with 0 elevation (the ramped areas etc were visual tricks) So they had to rebuild the game to have a multiple levels.
