Whetstone and Grinder bug?

I can't make a grinder without whetstones but I can't make a whetstone without a grinder.

So what's the alternative to this level of ignorant design?

Steal from the Bandits. That's more the intended loop - head out at night to the Bandit Armory and kill everyone there, grabbing chests when you find them.

A lot of items you'll need will come from specific enemies or locations before you can craft them yourself (see also: thread and cloth).

If I must. This is why I don't buy or really base building survival type games. Definitely would like it better if the crafting was toned way down.

If your wondering why I am playing at all still is because it was gifted to me by a friend and I am trying my best to get his money's worth.

V RIsing is more of an Action RPG. You're meant to get most of your resources through eating NPCs. There is no friendly town, so base building is the way to unlock crafting and equipment.

I mean, compared to a lot of games in this genre, the crafting IS turned down. A lot of resources can be grabbed from camps of enemies, and often earlier than you would get access to them normally. Cloth is a perfect example - you find tons killing enemies through the forest, but you can't craft it yourself until you've moved on to the Farmlands. While there's some items you need to specifically farm for (Ore being one of the biggest examples), a lot of materials are better farmed by going raiding instead of sitting around your base and crafting.

Well, I've spent the last two hours raiding bandit camps so I can get whetstones for building a grinder I need to move forward and I've gotten 2 of the 4 I need. Not counting the 20 minutes spent trying to run away from a vampire (just better to die and comeback than try to run, lousy balance that). That's way too low of a drop rate and it's a waste of my time.

Maybe I'll come back if they refine all this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ or mods come out that can automate a lot of the crafting. Right now it's one giant waste of my time. With only combat, crafting, and base building none of that is interesting enough. No story, no character interactions. No fun.

The only ignorant thing here is not the game design, it is yourself. Whetstones can be easily obtained by looting others, and there are specific places to do so, you need only hover the mouse over marked locations on the map to see what drops in that area. Look for one that drops whetstones and farm there, breaking barrels and opening chests.

I've done exactly that for two hours and I got 2 whetstones. The developer is intentionally wasting my time with asinine drop rates that low.

Look for zones that list whetstones as a specific drop. Once you discover certain camps on the map, you can mouseover them to view what specific drops they have. It helped tonnes in my game.

lol hang out in the bandit armory and break some crates. You'll walk out with a dozen in 5 minutes.

Whetstone craft is literally useless, you always have more than enough whetstones even without ever crafting one as they drop in abundance everywhere around the map

How are you spending 2 hours and only getting 2 are you even looking at what spawns in each camp and destroying all the crates? I come out with like 6+ every sweep of the armourers camp and it only takes like 5 minutes...

Same i literally learned that you can craft them only after 300 hours into the game and it was only because i was playing with a friend who played the game for the 1st time.

Literally everything you are complaining about is just simply skill issue on your part. The game and game design are fine.
