Is there local co-op play?

Looking for something to play with my wife where we don't have to deal with other people, let alone pvp. Is this an option with this one?

Wish there was split screen couch coop, so only one of the household has to buy the game.

Unfortunately the only company that still makes actual co-op games is Nintendo, and most of those are just party games

Keli just released Rotwood which is actually a lot of fun and couch Co-op. They made other great games like Don't Starve and Oxygen Not Included.
