Can't delete stairs

I have a set of stairs in my castle that can't be deleted. There is no red text telling me why it can't be deconstructed, it makes the deconstruct noise but remains. There are multiple other stairs leading up to the same level it leads up to, and I've deleted or moved everything touching it, both above, below, and on the same level.
I've verified my game files, restarted my machine, and have tried doing all of this on both my desktop PC as well as my Steam Deck.

You have to delete EVERYTHING around the stairs. If you attached walls to it, then delete those, and the individual pillars. If even one little particle of your castle is touching the stairs, they won't delete. And if you've built multiple floors, and that's your only set of stairs, you'll likely need to build another set first, because the game won't let you delete stairs if they're the only path to the next floor.

I have deleted literally everything touching them, on every level, and have multiple other sets of stairs, there is nothing preventing them from being deconstructed, not even red text telling me why.

Deleted everything touching the stairs? Are there any walls near the stairs not directly touching it?

You have to consider that the stairs count as floor tiles, especially for walls on the upper floor, and no wall is allowed to exist without at least one floor tile touching it. So you need to disassemble any walls that would end up orphaned by the removal of the stairs, not just the ones that directly touch it.

Yeah, the stairs are just hanging in space, touching only the one floor tile required in order to build it in the first place.
I guess I could try going 2 tiles out...

If it is the only stair to the next level then it can't be deleted. I tried to use the teleport pads as the only access to the next floor but you're not allowed to have floors that aren't connected by at least one stair.

Lol as I've mentioned multiple times on this thread, there are several stairs leading to that level, this one just can't be deleted.

It's official, I deleted the entire floor above the stairs, and every object, chest, prison cell, pillar, door, wall,

Did you delete e v e r y t h i n g? Lol jk, post a screen shot, maybe somebody will see something you missed, but I agree, stairs are utter trash, with how they work when you need to remove them

Stairs aren't decals, they're floor tiles. Removing stairs is effectively removing the floor tiles completely. Everything around them needs to be removed.

It's a link that goes to a post that the devs made, and has a link to official pages that Stunlock Studios has set up, if you, for some reason, think that link is to a malicious website or something.

If you REALLY don't trust me, you can also find a pinned post on this very forum called "How to report bugs and provide feedback or suggestions". You'll find that the link I posted matches that thread's address.

From what I understand, the devs don't actively check this forum, so you're not going to get their eyes on your problem here. But you could inform them of your problem in an official capacity by simply clicking the link I provided, or finding the topic by its title.

Otherwise you can rage into the void and accomplish nothing, if that's how you wanna do it.
