Prisoner Care
I kind-of hope that the prisoner mechanic gets expanded. I'd like to see something like Starbound's tenant system where their happiness (and how much you get paid as a result) goes up in accordance with how well furnished/decorated their accommodations are.

... I just know it feels kind of boring for them to be standing there and a little unbelievable that their misery doesn't passively go up while being permanently locked up in a cage all day...

I think it's more silly that the only way you can keep their misery down is a handful of fish that have a low chance of appearing and have tiny amount of stock at the store.

Default settings are pretty abysmal for that, yeah. That's why when I created my server I bumped up trader stock. lol

at some point I'm gonna have to figure out how to mod server settings after the fact lol

If you scroll down to the "Traders" section of server settings when creating a new game with a new ruleset there's an option for 'Stock Multiplier". I set mine up to 3.

But they're prisoners, not house-guests.

But they're prisoners, not house-guests.
Right. And I want them to BE house-guests.

Perhaps I should make a suggestion about it!
